Most ever paid for a single Busse knife?

Hmm. I have to go fondle it. $1400 from the Minumental Extravaganzaaaa. . . . Custom AK-47, all hand ground convex blade w very fine zero edge, satin blade, handle G10/Sheep Horn/G10. I don't have another AK to compare it to, but said to be very fast.

That one is Awesome! Do you have any close-up pics of the handle?

Pain in the past and pain in the future I see.

Won't say at this particular time.

Wow... the shbms have really shot up in price. I should've got one when they were around 600. Now they're far, far out of my budget. :(

No kidding!

Glad I kept one. I've had 5 or 7 over the years and they ranged in price from $425 to ~$525 with the majority in the $475-$500 range.

The most I spent IIRC was $650 or so for a factory satin finished fatty. Sold it for ~$700 to cover what I had in shipping and still thought the price was high.

Funny thing is, the highest priced blades back then were the SHSH's, with most in the $550-$575 range. SHBA's were $275-$350.

Hogs seemed to trade back and forth with little thought to profit, only to cover cost for the most part.

What happened?

Hoggies, this is stupid stuff! To paraphrase a little.

prices have gone very high, but how much would you pay for 2 of the three pictured LE's on Badmojo? I paid a lot, but it was worth it to me as that is the one knife I collect. I don't care about much anything else. The SHBM is the knife I collect. It really is the only one. I buy other stuff as well, but if I had to liquidate, everything but my SHBM's would go first.

Mine was very similar to the bottom one pictured, but it was not a LE, nor was it numbered. I'm pretty sure it was sterile.

Only sold it due to a bad cash crunch at the time.

I know what you mean. When something you truly desire comes up, money is no object. Especially when it may never come up again.

Yah, I have two sterile factory bead blasted ones like the bottom one as well with that diagonal groove micarta. Those diagonal handles were very nice. Too bad not so many were made.

I would sell my porsche before I sell my SHBM's.

A Porsche, an SHBM collection, and cool guns. When I grow up, I want to be just like Cobalt.

well.............not just like him.......

I think I should have stated that what I was yarking about was the dramatic increases in the plain Jane CG stuff. LE's, customs, variants and the like just by their very nature command higher prices and a collector will pay to fill that small hole in the collection.

That is the nature of collecting.

I recently saw a vintage cast iron skillet with a very rare logo sell for $1575.00 on epray.

I have the very same skillet, same company, different logo, sitting on the stove with this mornings bacon and eggs residue still in it. It cost about $30. It is over 80 years old and the +$1500 one only a few years older.

Great stuff and about the best in cast iron cookware, but I use it, not collect it.

Same with Busse.

If anything ever happened to the SHBA that I EDC, I'd have a hard time justifying paying over 2X what I paid to put another one on my belt, but I probably would since nothing else works like it does. My most perfect Busse.

all true and I think that the higher production should have put a stop to high prices but it seems to have fueled them even more. Go figure.

I think more snouts in the trough and snouts with more $$$ for knives have somewhat offset the higher production.

But really, all the models that have high production numbers are selling at retail on the secondary market... only the limited editions get the premium price.

Of course, 2 to 3 years from now... who know what these will fetch?

very true, but there is also an abundance of customs these days. In the past customs would take a year or more. Now, they come out monthly, still the production is low enough to give them the higher cost.

About 600.00.
I have recently stopped all knife firearm and flashlight purchases, (save two glocks and a surefire) to fund my now supercharged and nicely modded RSX type S.
Now it runs a 1/4 mile in 11.8 and 126 mph. Pure joy!

The unknown variable in all of this is the market. We don't really have any idea how large this market could become.

The only thing we know is that production has not yet met demand.

That, and most of us highly addicted Hogs really, really like Satin and DoubleCut Busses. :D

Now you're reducing me to a cliche: "This post is useless without pics!" :D

[And I mean bike pics!!!!!]
