Most exciting brand?

Definitely not Spyderco 😁

Stop the presses! Late word just in from the seer of all things and knower of all facts that it is not Spyderco. Facts and reasons to follow. . . . . . . . . . . or not.

Pisses me off to no end people who equate taiwan with china. The level of quality the Taichung spydies have is amazing. Were they made in America they would cost a lot, lot more with not necessarily the same quality. Cold steel is another made in Taiwan company that is well made. Even China has really upped their game with Kizer and reate.

With spyderco, I've owned knives from their big three factories, and they've all been well made, though the Taichung are the best imo.

With zt, I really wish they would strike out on their own with in house designs rather than just collaborations with custom makers.

CRKT--if they upped their steel choices, I might be interested, but otherwise, no thanks.

Benchmade for the most part seem to be sitting back on their laurels and letting their mainstay knives keep them in business.

Obviously the current trend is bringing customs down to prices the "average joe" can afford, and zt and Kershaw are excelling at this. To the point where they are dropping some of their mainstays in favor of this, as well as broadening their appeal to more people.

Typed this all on my phone, arthritic fingers hurt now.

I can confidently say that I have family in and from Taiwan. It is not part of China. China is communist. Taiwan is not.

I understand. You should re-read my comment. Over one billion people would disagree with the bolded part. I'm not one of them.

Over a billion people resent the fact that Taiwan is no longer part of China. If they actually think Taiwan is part of China, they are ignorant and wrong.

Just because someone thinks something (in this case, a large amount of ignorant people thinking Taiwan is still part of China) doesn't make it true.

If I were in China's shoes, I'd be pissed Taiwan isn't part of China too. It's a beautiful place.

You guys sure know how to blow up a thread. I actually have a list of this years most exciting brands (for me personally).

In no particular order:

ZT - Easy Choice
Spyderco - For the upcoming Peter Rassenti and Peter Carey collabs
Reate
Kizer
Guardian Tactical

All 5 are sure to produce more stellar knives this year.:thumbup:

None of those companies being mentioned can take credit for the innovation of new steels. Or can they?

That wasn't the question. The question was whether or not other companies are doing anything exciting or innovating. The answer is yes, yes they are. The fact that multiple companies are doing so is irrelevant.

Had not heard of Reate before. Checked out their site and I sure do like what I see. =)

I'd really like to see more innovation in the jarbenza segment.
