Most expensive knife that you USE.

Probably my Spyderco Citadel. Not too bad ($150.00). At the moment, I'm trying to hold off on big knife purchases until BladeShow.

I also love knives but $600 is a s**tload of money. especially for a knife.

The ZT301 was my first expensive knife and became a beater the first day I got it. The SnG is my most expensive user and everyday carry knife. I do constuction, carpentry, plumbing, etc. so thats the environment they're used in.

For some knives, 600 will get you halfway there. also, sometimes when you get north of $600 the value appreciates over time. depending on the maker.

Yep, that's why I'll only spend $500 on a knife.
Damn weirdos with their $600 knives...:grumpy:
:D

Probably not what OP had in mind... but my most expensive knives are my kitchen knives, and they get used regularly. I've had these for a few years.

Top: Henckels Twin Four Star 8" Chef's Knife -- ~$95
Bottom: Henckels Twin Four Star 5" Santoku Knife -- ~$90

My most expensive folder... Ontario RAT 1 -- $29.65... I've only had this one a couple of months. It's in my EDC rotation but hasn't seen much substantial use yet.

I also have a SOG Flash II that commonly retails for more (~$40-45), but I paid $26 for it (eBay).

I guess my Wilson Combat/CRK 'StarTac' Umnumzaan was my most expensive knife at $430.

Of course, add the nearly a kilobuck that 2 5/8" PC 627 in the picture cost to the equation and I really spent some moola.
(Yeah, I had to buy the revolver....)

I don't own a pocket knife that hasn't been in my pocket a few times in between stays in a display case. Really mundane use - opening mailers, boxes, envelopes, etc - and trimming bruised apples, cutting cheese, trimming sandwich's, etc.

I have a few customs that have seen use. While most of my collection is kept mint, I really enjoy putting a good knife to work when the opportunity presents.

Mine would be my XM-18, soon to be replaced with my XM-24. When it gets cold the blue jeans come out and the 24 always pulls my shorts down. These two or a lg Sebenza. I sold off 99% of my less expensive knives to buy them and you only live once!

BTW: I'm not a heavy user and if I'm going to really beat on something and know about it in advance, there's always my 2 Cold Steel folders for that. ;)

Busse MOAB. Sold her a while back. Was fun while it lasted. Used it to cut up a huge pine that fell on the house. $2100 at Blade a few years back. Making due with slightly less expensive Busse & Busse Kin choppers now.

Right now, it's a pretty even rotation with these three - each gets used when I have it on me. This morning I couldn't decide. :o

so how does that gayle bradley stack up to those other two i love mine id like to hear a quick comparison

Carry a ZT 0301 every day.

Use a $500 Busse something-or-another regularly. I consider it a very well spent $500.

And have a few kitchen knives in the $2-300 range. It would be nice if my G/F stopped trying to destroy them in the dishwasher!!!

IMO, even though I really like it, the Gayle Bradley is a bit of an odd bird. On the one hand, its heavy build (>5 oz), thick liners, tough steel, and solid action push it into the "workhorse" category. On the other hand, the gorgeous CF scales, clip, and poor unlocking ergonomics make it more of "gentleman's carry". In the latter regard it falls more in line with the Sebenza. The smooth action and lock-up are really on par with the Sebenza, but there are a couple of finish issues that set them apart. The Sebe has some custom touches that differentiate it like the radiused blade spine, eased edges on the metal/titanium handles, tighter tolerances between the blade and handles, use of the pivot bushing, etc. You have to decide for yourself if these subtle extras are worth maybe $300 more.

The ZT for me just begs to get used hard, and feels under-appreciated when I carry it in the office. It has a firmer detent than either of the other two, and the action isn't as smooth. It goes with me camping simply due to its better working ergonomics, stainless steel blade, ease of unlocking, and the G10 slab /Ti framelock combo. I don't worry about messing this guy up. One of these days I'll get a micarta Sebenza to compare it to....it's one tough worker. Again, it's my opinion but this is everything a Strider SNG or SMF is at 1/2 the cost.

Let me know via email or pm if you want to discuss further. I can talk about these guys all day......

I've carried every knife I own at one time or another but I carry my Umnumzaan multiple times a week with happiness ;) So - $400
