Hey guys this is my first post so sorry if I don't sling the Blade Forum lingo quite right.

I've been collecting knives for a few years now and finally got the cash to add a new member to the collection.

I'm looking for THE heaviest duty folder on the planet i.e., The roughest and toughest, built like a tank, virtually indestructible folder in existence.

Price is not an issue.

Automatics and spring assists are also welcome if one just happens to be THE absolute heaviest duty folder on the planet.

No fixed blades please.

So far I've come up with the Grayman Satu, something from Crusader Forge, and the Extreme Ratio RAO as possible contenders.

All recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks guys,
Chris

grayman makes some seriously brute like knives they are meant to be abused :) also the three sisters forge beast is well.......a beast haha

The brands that come to mind when talking over built like a fort knox are (in no real order) Dwaine Carrillo knives, Crusader forge, Medford knife and tool, and Phantom steel works. Direware also look pretty overbuilt too. If you want speed and strength I would pass on an auto and go with a bearing flipper. If its made right you get the speed of an auto, sometimes even faster yet there is no spring to break on you or have to replace. In most cases even if it gets really gunked up you simply flush it out, lube it up and go back to work. You have to remember even the most overbuilt knife is only as strong as its weakest part. When I think over built relatively few autos come to mind and even then many knives top them with extreme heavy duty in mind. If you really need the assist or spring action, overbuilt awesomeness and want to save some dough the ZT 0300 series is really hard to beat. The pivot is a solid 3/8" bolt with nut. I would argue there are few pivots with the strength of the 0300. The titanium frame lock is huge and the knife has substance that needs to be held to be appreciated. The knife I know has been in production for a long time now but that is with good reason. There is relatively little you could do to improve it. For me, if they stonewashed the blade, gave it the galyean battle swedge and changed it from assist to KVT I would buy another one no questions asked. But even as it is its hard to have a discussion of overbuilt knives in any price bracket and not mention it.

For the price, I agree that the ZT 0300 series is super tough. I also recommend the CRK Umnumzaan. I like the Hinderer designs, but they are easily double the price of these and some of the ones mentioned are twice the price of a Hinderer. You could buy 5 ZT's and 3 umnumzaan's for what the Medford knives cost.

There are many choices depending on the look you like best.

Medford Pretorian
Direware SOLO V2
Grayman SATU
Crusader Forge VIS-T
Dalibor Regulus

Those would be the top choices IMO for an overbuilt folder.

The Three Sisters Forge Beast is a great knife but is overall a small folder with a thick stock blade, thus making it a beast.

But for a larger folder the Super Beast would be the one to look for, but they don't come up for sale often.

WHAT!?!? noboday recommended a Smatchet yet?? well for a fixed blade let me be the the first to suggest a smatchet. for a folder either a ZT 0300 ,as previously stated, or a TB Bodega, it is built like a tank but looks like a Aston martin/Lincoln continental hybrid................... ie super sweet looking

I have one of the original s30v bladed TSF Beast and it really does live up to its name.

It's smooth as glass and the thick stock means it can handle practically anything.

Search around and see if you can find a Super Beast if possible.

You can't go wrong with that choice :D

For the price. Benchmade Adamas.
Hell, even against knives 2x,3x and 4x the price the Adamas can hold its own in the heavy duty catagory.
Watch Vininull's videos on youtube. He Hard use tests many folders.

List of Hard use folders I have came up with that are all under 200. Others have listed some very nice custom folders in the thread as well.

Agree 100%, one of my favs.

Those Phantom Steel Works Knives are straight up evil! The MKT Pratorian Ti is on the list to. Gotta keep lookin' though. I don't wanna be too quick to jump on one.

I went to Todd Begg's website and saw the Zombie Cleaver. I know, a little off topic, but I had to bring it up because the thing is pretty sick and definitely worthe a shout out. I'm not even into fixed blades but that thing is wicked evil!

I don't think they're quite worthe the price from looking at the specs. Nothing about it really screams 500-600 bucks IMO.

So far the MKT Praetorian Ti, Crusader Forge FIFP, something from Phantom Steel Works, Direware Solo-V4, and Grayman Satu are on the table. Lots of decisions to make. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.
