Most Heavy Duty Folder on the Planet?

Picked this one up last week, probably the toughest knife on the planet. So far I haven't managed to cut anything with it though...

Do a search for the Dalibor wip thread. Or the review by Striderco of the Dalibor Regulus in the knife review section. Great comparisons of many of the recommended knives. His collection of big burly folders is quite impressive.

Cheers...

i just tried one of those out at the knife store. it feels way lighter than it looks, so it's probably really fragile. I mean if a knife isn't really heavy and bulky it must be weak.

I could almost fit that thing in my pocket, and I doubt I'd even need a third belt to hold my pants up :thumbdn:

So, I need something a little tougher.

You don't need tougher you just need to get some supper commando Kevlar pants with steel cable belt and ratchet style buckle. The official navy seal style, the ones with the undercover, digicam underwear, quick sand proof cuffs, buoyancy compensator and sundial erection adapter, that's what you need to carry that bad boy.

Nah. I'm not really into fixed blades. I gotta admit tho, I do kinda' like the grind on the blade....

That MKT Praetorian G/T gets my vote. I'm not into super thick folders but that thing looks very cool with the G10 digicam scale.

You dont need stock that thick because most of the Pratorians and Crusader Forges ive seen have horrible grinds.

Not sure if this qualifies as "Most Heavy Duty Folder on the Planet" LOL, but for the money I've found the Spydie TUFF lives up to it's namesake very well in using it over the last four months since I got it.

Super simple construction as it only has three fasteners, beefy pivot, excellent grinds for a knife intended for hard use and strong amount of pressure on the lockbar from factory compared to most other Ti framelocks I've had.

I added additional pressure to the lockbar by heating and bending it some more so now the lockbar requires a considerable amount of force to close the knife which is how I like it. So now it's really tough! ;):foot:

One to to strongly consider is cutting ability.
It can be the most overbuilt folder in the world but if the edge geometry sucks,
All you're left with is a sharpened pry tool.
I think a good convex ground blade, is the definition of hard use, that's why competition choppers are convex.
Remember, if the knife doesn't cut, it ain't shit.

Personally I'd go with a well made titanium frame lock with good steel, made from a reputable maker.
For example: Jeremy Robertson (Calvera Cutlery) make a great frame lock, with 3v steel, and a great convex edge.
That knife is going to be great for heavy and hard use.

While not being extremely overbuilt, Hinderers and Striders are worth considering.
Specifically an XM-24 or an SnG XL.

I will also vote for the Andrew Demko AD 10! They are very hard to get so the next step would be to have Alan Davis make you one the way you want. His folders are VERY TOUGH! Thanks! Kevin :D
