Most indestructible knife

Work Tuff Gear Hemlock Ares; even Joex himself couldn't manage to break it or even chip it through all the abuse he put it through. SK5 steel iirc. They're pretty hard to find though, but pretty much completely indestructible. The Svord Von Tempsky bowie is also nearly indestructible; he only managed to break the tip, but the rest of the knife was completely fine.
So the Svord went from being a Bowie to being a competition chopper in one video 😂

Anything WorkTuff more than fits in this category. They have a really cool fighting style bowie, that always seems to be out of stock everywhere.

That's great, can't wait to see all your results. Love the idea of a knife that won't break, but still good at cutting stuff. I've always been a fan of 3v. It will be interesting to see how some of your other steels compare.
Oh, it can break. But it’s how much it takes to break it that I’m concerned with! I can differentially harden some simpler steel like 8670 and 15n20 that will hold up to dam near anything! But they don’t have the wear resistance I’m after! The higher alloys have that, and I think it’s all in the heat treat regarding what they can really handle! That’s why I like ztuff, A8 mod and 3v. Those steels are crazy tough, yet they have decent wear resistance!!

Why is the no Esee 5 pic in this thread?
Fixed :D

And it makes nice curls too after you give the edge some tlc

This knife, in this steel with this new heat treat is proving to be extremely durable!! I finally broke the tip, but I’m guessing I created some brittleness from hitting it with the hammer, and while I was prying really hard, it finally snapped off!! I’ve cut stone and metal, by batonning the hell out of it with a hammer. I’d probably say that I don’t need anything tougher than this! Lol. It still hasn’t broken in half! Yet!
Surprisingly durable for a such a thin piece of steel with a nice cutting grind! I’m extremely surprised and impressed!! And those aren’t necessarily chips. It’s edge deformation. And this tested at 59 rc. I did get a couple small chips from some granite I batonned into. But it was more mushing and deformation than anything!!

Good stuff.

I’ve used Tops knives for a while now, they can take some insane abuse. As can Busse’s SR-101.
I’ve only owned one tops knife. And it was pretty stout. That was before I got into knife making! I really like their designs more than anything! Some are really cool, but of course some are really odd too!! That one looks like it will last a lifetime

That’s what I like about them, a lot of different stuff to choose from. Very high quality and fit and finish as well.

It's fine to want the toughest knife, able to withstand a bulldozer running over it. But for me, I'd rather have a knife that works well for it's cutting tasks. A big rock might be better for toughness. If a bulldozer runs over your knife, it's probably run over you, too!
