Most indestructible knife

I’ll revive this thread, but only because I have a tendency to test my own knives similar to this. This last weekend I tested a few different alloys with different heat treats! And I was surprised by the results! I do have a few tests lined up for the future! All the blades will be flat ground .180 thick, and so far I have 3v, A8 mod, 15n20, 8670, Abe-l, 5160, and s7 in stock. I’ll be heat treating these and putting them through some rough use tests. I have a few heat treats I’m trying with 3v and A8. The others will be straight forward based off Larrins testing of heat treats! And Scott gossman helped me with s7. I’ve made a few personal blades out of it I’m currently trying! These will start with basic cut tests, rope, cardboard, batonning wood, then antler, aluminum, sheet metal, and then angle iron. My goal is to dial in my heat treat and settle on a couple steels for wilderness knives. I’m making knives that cut, but that will also hold up to pretty much whatever. Personally I think it’s a way to gauge heat treat and steel choice. So far, I have one knife in ztuff that I’ve beat harder than any knife I’ve ever made, and I’ve yet to break it. It’s an experimental heat treat. And it’s cut 1/4 inch plate batonning through with a hammer!! Lol. Talk about tough. But it’s not overly thick. And the grind is good for actual cutting! I’m impressed so far. I’ll probably share my results her when I’m done. But it’s about a couple months out. Also, A8 mod has proven extremely tough so far. I have one test knife in 1/4 inch thick, that hasn’t broke yet. Even put in a vise and hit on the tang with a sledge, it’s handled over 100 hits so far. S7 is what I’m curious about. I haven’t tested it to hard yet!

Busse Infi, Carothers D3v, and Gossman S7 for sure. I also have a Z Tuff custom that's easily as tough/tougher than any steel I've ever used.
That said any knife that's 1/4 thick is damn near indestructible in any steel. Heat treat and geometry play a huge factor in toughness.
Great thing about your Z tuff knife is thay when someone asks you cam say with a German accent, "it's Z tuffest knife in Z verld"

JoeX broke 3V Bark River easily. To be frank, every 3V broke easily...
At least yours didn't come broken like mine did

Yeah, I love my 3V knife but am often worried about it... it's doing well so far though.

It's mainly the processing of the steel that's the issue. I don't have any faith in BR. As far as I'm concerned, I would take anyone elses 3v over BR, including CS, Spyderco, etc.

This is how it arrived. I pulled it out of the box and there it was. Beautiful knife replica of the Forrest Bowie knife, but worthless. Doesn't seem like much, but when you consider the tip was not shoved into anything and pried out, and it just broke in transit in the box, that is brittle. Can't blame 3v for that.

Geez, that's Less tip than I'm even known for.....Haha!

I have a few older bark rivers left (2006-2009) but have moved most of them as qc is more miss than hit. I've never seen a knife show up without the tip attached. that's crazy. Maybe it was supposed to be the Edwin Forrest Rescue Bowie with safety tip 🧐
