MOST razor sharp OUT OF BOX folder edge for under $200.00?

who cares? Are you needing a knife to shave with? or whittle hairs?
Anything beyond a good factory edge is a bit silly in my opinion. After a few seconds of solid use the edge is gone and you are left with a working edge. Which is why I only sharpen to a working edge.

If you plan on using and collecting knives, you're going to have to learn how to sharpen. Then that "razor sharp" factory edge won't matter much.

kershaw/ZT have some dang nice edges! my cpm-154 blur was hair popping out of the box

and if you have 200$ to spend look at a ZT 0550 or 0560 :D

Scream,

Thats interesting that you were not aware of Country Knifes, 37 years in business. I spoke to the owner today on phone, nice guy and tells me he has customers that come from California to his shop! The shop is in Intercourse, Pa.

And everything is priced at full retail. They will often have discontinued models available because of this.

I really don't go to that part of town too often. I will have to check out though. I will definitely but something to support a local vendor but I doubt anything big. It looks like he charges msrp for everything. It would definitely be an improvement than the knives I see at gun shows.

Also I have a GB if you want to check it out and they don't have one.

I just wanted to mention that the Case twin blade toothpick that I bought recently shaved the hair off my knuckles out of the box.

I am gonna go with a $15 Mora on this one. They aren't all that way mind you but the sharpest out of the box Moras I am confident in saying have been the sharpest out of the box knives at any price point for me.

I am gonna also go with Helle. Helle knives come extremely sharp.

All of the afformentioned scary sharp scandi knives were the laminated steel versions.

The sharpest factory edge I've gotten was on a Kershaw Rake composite. That thing really was on another level of sharpness.

My M390 Military was the sharpest knife I've ever received out of the box. Hair whittling to be exact.

The sharpest out of box production folder I've ever owned has to be the Spyderco Gayle Bradley Air.

That also has a lot to do with the blade profile of that knife. It's thin and extremely sharp. Sharp enough to cut heart shapes out of phone book pages.

If you're never, ever going to use a knife, I can see wanting it to come sharp.

If you use a knife, you'll have to sharpen it regularly so it really doesn't matter where it starts, IMO.

Sharpest I've gotten out of the box is hands down the Spyderco Gayle Bradley. It was a bit better after I reprofiled it.

All the fallkniven knives I have seen have had perfect grinds out of the box. Their qc is excellent. I hate getting a brand new knife that needs to be reprofiled.

Factory edges are irrelevant.

Once you learn how to get your knives scary sharp,

...how they come from the factory will be a moot point.

Big Mike

I feel the same way, but Ill play along. Its gotta be Spyderco Stretch in Zdp. Sharpest knife out of the box I have ever encountered.

Spyderco, Kershaw and Zero Tolerance are the most consistently sharp IMHO. Typically as sharp or sharper than my CRKs. One other knife I had was incredibly sharp was a Fallkniven U2, perhaps the sharpest of all. However it's the only Fallkniven knife I own so I can't speak for the brand.

Sharpest out of the box was my ZDP Dragonfly. Hair whittling sharp from the factory. I don't really care how sharp knives come, but that one did impress me a bit.

:D

The sharpest out of the box edge I've seen was on the cold steel Ti-Lite 4". Not very office friendly though. Best office knife I've owned is the Dragonfly 2 ZDP-189. Usable size and holds a great edge without freaky the "Knives are scary" types out.
