those handles are amazin

I used to have a nonflipper Gen3 XM18 that was mind blowing, as good as the Rockstead Shin which is sublime, but NOTHING is more fun than a Medford Viper. It's INSANE! Not an axis lock fan, but the original Rukus sitting in my son's room is literally hard to believe - zero play and can roll open & closed in the most impossibly slow roll. Still, #1 is the MKT Viper.

I have to add the Ritter Hogue to this list they are super smooth and precise both the large and small. There was a large purple one that opened as smoothly as the others but was rough closing (too rough) it required a lot of trial and error before I figured out I had to smooth out the lock bar not the blade tang. Because of all the smoothing I did on the tang pivot area it is now the smoothest opening of the bunch (super smooth wet glass vs super smooth dry glass pretty close but still) and with the lock bar corrected it also closes as smoothly as it should. The fact that I did it myself makes it more satisfying. That one defect was probably more the exception than the rule with Hogue.

I'll add a shameless plug for American Made.

Of all of the knives in my collection I absolutely love the action on the ZT 0640. That includes the Inkosis and Sebenzas I own which are unreal in their own right, however I keep coming back to the 0640. Love this knife so much I bought three and modded with aftermarket scales, titanium hardware and deep carry clips. I could open and close this thing all day long.

Photo taken last night on the 11,041 ft Mt. Dutton, Utah looking north. My son and I setup camp a couple hundred yards east for the night.

At the risk of igniting controversy, yes we still don't know exactly where it was made, but it sure is satifying to open using every conceivable method. Whatever else it is or isn't, it's a damn near perfect fidget knife.
