Used my Leatherman Wave for 10 years (got it when I was 16) almost daily. It was stolen off the front seat of my truck recently got a Surge to replace it. I never doubted the Wave at all.

I've got a couple Leatherman models, a couple Gerbers, and a SwissChamp but it's the Schrade ToughTool that's been on my belt for the last nine years or so.

How old is yours?
From looking at comments elsewhere it seems it WAS a nice too (particulary for the money), but after Schrade got sold and production moved to China it became a shadow of its former self.....poor steel, poor finish, etc. Or is this incorrect? It certainly has a very reasonable price...$15 or so.

To be honest, I can't remember where/when I acquired the ToughTool--likely at a gun show in the '90s while I was in the gun biz. Anyway, it is an older one--I've EDC it for going on 10 years now and use it daily.

Unlike the stock pic, mine came in a nylon pouch that wore out in two-three years. I then had a nice leather one made, which I currently use.

If I needed a replacement, I imagine I would look on eBay for a vintage one--like you, I've read about the lackluster quality of today's "Schrade" brand.

Leatherman Wave. It's been used everyday for the last 3 years and has never failed me. I often forgo my toolbox at home and just bring the Wave out for most tasks. Other than a hammer of course, but in a pinch...
