In your opinion, what is the most under-rated knife?

They can be expensive or cheap, traditional or outlandish... anything works.
Just thought it would be interesting to see the kind of responses here.

I always thought for their price condor knife and tool products were underrated! mcusta folders aren't given as much attention as they deserve!

Kitchen knives in general.

I'm guessing the average person uses them more than all their other knives combined, but they only get a token mention here.

We don't even have a kitchen knife sub-forum.

yeah, as someone that's new to this forum i'm surprised there is no kitchen knife subforum. I would think people that loves knives as much as the members here would also like to discuss what they use in the kitchen.

well i don't know about most underrated of all time but the spyderco barong by ed schempp is just finally getting a good amount of attention but not before spyderco decided to discontinue it.

Buck knives.
If their fixed knives came with a better sheath they would get the respect they deserve.

i'm thinkin the traditional slipjoint is underated by the younger generation. seems most want the ninja type of knife. gotta be " kewl ". :D

Buck 119 is a good knife that comes with a cheap sheath that detracts from the knife's appeal (along with the plastic blister pack).

Bob Dozier's knives. www.dozierknives.com

They are the quality of an orginal Loveless, at the price of a Bark River

Spyderco's Military. Probably the best production folder made, at a VERY reasonavle price.

I think the Bradley alias 2 is underrated.I have 1 in blue ti...lost

pocket time because of my seb.

I kind of want to say Spyderco. until I came here nobody ever knew what I was talking about when I mentioned Spyderco knives.

I would hear Spyderco what? then I show and let them feel and use one and they where sold. :D

That is one of the reason that the Buck knives are priced like they are, add a 70.00 sheath and the bargain is gone, Shop for a after Market sheath or make your own, take advantage of the price, Great knives.

Also, a big PLUS ONE on the Condors.

I think Opinels and Okapi's are very good knives that are a little underrated due to their thin stock. I also think buck knives have gone a little under the radar.

Some people don't rate highly anything that is cheap, but Opinel, Mora & Victorinox are all pretty cheap while still being very good.
Despite the cheap & simple construction Opinel folders are seriously good slicers.
Mora knives are great for carving & whittling and food prep despite being cheap knives with cheap handles and cheap sheaths.
Victorinox has been around for a long time and their SAKs are truly useful tools!

Very true. I picked up a 119 for my dad for 22 bucks in a box with the weak but serviceable sheath. A few weeks later I went into wal-mart (where I bought the 119) and they were now in blister packs and selling for 32. The guy said they had all the box stuff on special to clear em out to make room for a blister pack friendly display.
SCORE!

I think very few knives in this thread are named that are actually underrated.

Take the Subcom....I've only heard good reports about that, and tons of it.

And someone else mentioned the Spyderco militairy? C'mon, have you been living under a rock? It's one of the most praised folders out there.
