Most under-rated knives

David Boye Dendritic Cobalt. Won't rust, sharp as hell, holds
an edge nearly forever and is very easy to sharpen. They
are never mentioned here.

Well made knives with thin blades and 8A steel....

For me, it is the Kershaw, Wildcatcat Ridge folder. You almost never see this knife mentioned anywhere. Even though I carry some good drop point blades on my hunting trips, I never leave the house without my WR...it is dependable, strong and will always get the job done right.

Moras are under-rated, lacking any "tactical" appeal. They have the advantage of being, probably, the best, sharpest knife at that price point and, let's face it, a cheap knife is no more or less likely to fall out and get lost than an expensive one so if you loose your Mora, call Ragnar and a new one is yours for $12 in about 3 days!!!

RAT-1 folder (ontario knives), try to show me a better built folder with full steel liners, flat grind and aus-8 steel for 24 to 30$.

Seriously it is a great knife, no blade play at all, comfortable full size handle and a really funtional drop point design. Open handle is really easy to clean as well.

anyone that thinks mora's are underrated needs to spend a little time on the WS&S forum here, lots of mora love.....try to watch a youtube video related to bushcraft without seeing one.

Kershaw Gentleman's Folder. It's a fantastic design, slim and elegant, with high quality materials (VG-10 blade and polished micarta handle slabs). It's the smoothest opening lockback I own, and probably the one with the best fit and finish.

Amazing knife for around $75 (including a nice sheath). Perfect for office carry or summer EDC, you just forget it's on you een with light pants.

By the same token, there's a ridiculous amount of RAT-1 love. Just look around!

I'd have to say that the wenger locking swiss army knives are some of the most underrated. I think they are an amazing mix of quality, value, and function. Wenger seems to take a backseat to Victorinox on many forums. I am not sure why as I prefer the wenger design on almost all tools except the awl (Vic awl is far superior).

Check out the s585 and s18. These are my favorites :)

Actually I don't think the amount is all that ridiculous at all - if anything there should be quite a lot more. Ambidextrous (clip and opening) one handed opener with a decent stainless steel and a great feel as well as impressive fit & finish - it's a bargain at any price under $40.

Mora is the same - many fans, but plenty of people here that aren't interested because they are a 'cheap knife'. I have also read posts in W&S about taking a couple of Mora knives for loaners - I don't loan my Moras because they might get messed up, I know they are cheap but I like them and don't want them destroyed!

Carbon steel Kabars. They are cheap and ugly, but they take a great edge and hard use just makes them smile and ask for more.

Opinel! i got a carbon No.8 for 7 bucks  such an awesome blade:D

Takes a great edge, super easy to sharpen, and for 7 bucks!

Kabar Dozier in several blade styles. I like (and have) the traditional drop point version. $20 or less.

Boker Trance. Another great CLB design and a framelock. $25ish

Kabar Mule. Great heavy duty folder imo. <$50

+1 on the Kabar Mule.

Buck Bantams, Baby! Oh, yeah, they are Really nice, high value for $17, you get a great blade shape, 420HC, solid lockup, fast deployment and overall buck quality. Feels SOO good in hand, too.

Hi folks nice place you have here I can't stop reading..
I would have to say uncle henry pocket knife the ones i have had served me well held a nice edge and if i lost it i could get a new one for free and if i lost that one there cheep enough it doesnt hurt to buy a new one.
Now please understand I spend alot of time on the water and in the woods and i find it hard taking my prized blades there it hurts me enough to lose a $60 Case XX.
Old timer Is another one that does it's job well.

Probably the reason you don't hear more about them is because the original USA made ones aren't in production anymore since Schrade folded a few years ago. They were good knives.

Moki knives are underrated. What you are getting for the price you pay is amazing. Even with the economics of the lop-sided yen/dollar forcing their prices upward, these knives are still a bargain. One of the premier makers. Almost custom grade. And a heck of a well kept secret.

Agreed, and Mcusta as well.
