Most Underrated Busse?

ST Ripper.

hardly underrated. they're just rare and quite sought after

i'm not sure about most, but the HR does seem kind of underrated. maybe just because some people (not me) don't like the corrugated bevels, but imo it's one of the most versatile Busse's i've used.

I don't post here much but use my Busses very much and I would say my BATAC is very underated. It is a great size for most needs I have when hiking and camping. I'm really surprised that there is not more mentioned in W&SS about it.

Agreed! I liked my Hell Razors a lot. I liked my Mud Razors a lot too.

The HACKs are fairly underrated too. I haven't owned many but they were always fine knives.

Scrofa. PM if you need "the experience." :D

I agree the Scrofa is probably the most underrated.

Great blade height from edge to spine for a knife of it's size. Thin, slicer, very fine tip.

Only thing I would change would be to make it a true warncliff from the get go, and make some versions without the recurve.

The recurve makes for excellent cutting, but takes away some usefullness in food prep.

I'd say the mini Sus Scrofa -- they're so unpopular that they occasionally sell for less than release price on the secondary market, but are actually a quite functional design. Reports are that Jerry hated the SAR-5, and the handle begs to be replaced or modded, but they're a pretty good knife and were released at a very reasonable price.

crazy thin tip (next to a boss street on the left):

I think people have a hard time dealing with the sheepsfoot shape in generally. It's great for tip work and the belly helps keep what your cutting locked into the blade instead of slipping toward the tip. I personally am not a huge fan of the knife because of the choil, but if I had to carry a tiny knife with a gigantic choil it would be that one. Modiefied to have the tip curve directly into the ricasso (removing the choil) and it's one of the coolest best knives I've ever owned.

I think the Groovemaster is the most underrated Busse.

Oooh, I really hated that one when they used to come up on the exchange. Now I wish I had grabbed one.

I also used to think that Meaners were hideous.

My Marco Bolo proto might be my favorite knife and I never hear anyone speak about them. It's a great blade and a recurve as well. As a mid sized knife it's my favorite

I'll second this. The CG BATAC really is a very handy knife for its size, and with as many that are out there, they don't get the props that they deserve in threads back here, especially since they seem to sit in the shadow of the SHBA and the BAIII/ABA versions. :) the BATAC is still one of my favorite Busse knives.

I don't know about underrated...yes, no one talks about them, but then again, they rarely pop up for sale anymore, so wherever they are, it seems that folks are holding on to them, not to mention that there doesn't seem to be many in circulation since they were only offered in one Ganza, and a few others hit the table at a Knob Creek show, IIRC.
It is a great blade in the hand, and if I can ever remember to get one of mine out for a sheath, I want to put it to use.

The humble little Culti.

+1

Best smaller Busse made IMO.
.125 is the perfect thickness for hunting, fishing, edc, and most other needs.
It also has a thicker tip than the .125 BAD, and the straight handle makes for a much better outdoor working knife than the AD or Meaners.
