Most underrated modern folder

The spyderco gayle bradley is the most underrated knife imo. It will outperform any other folder of any price in any area. It has carbon fiber and cpm m4 steel with a hollow grind it is a slicing machine. It's extremely heavy duty and intended for serious hard use yet it wears the clothes of a gentleman's folder. I would take it as my edc over a sebenza, any benchmade, most every other spyderco including the pm2 (though my Delica 4 still sees a lot of pocket time). Imo it's the best knife one can possibly purchase for the money and I don't know of any production knives at any price that can outperform it. I'm very excited to see what the gb2 is like :)

I agree, but I still think the edge angle could be "sharper". I reprofiled it to around 15 degrees per side. Also I forced a patina on the blade (nice to have a modern folder with non stainless blade).

A truly great knife that can be made even better.

zero tolerance 0300. its old and alot of people forget about now with zt's new ball bearings and hinderer designs but it fits my hand better than anything and has held up to all the abuse i can throw at it. I would also say the cold steel voyager line. i had the 4" version and beat the living hell out of it and it just kept coming back for more. and it cut just as well as my full sized grip

Runner up: Kershaw thermite,

I totally agree, love that blade, but the lock tears my thumb up. It's gotten better and gets rotated in a lot more, but if the lock felt better it would definitely see quite a bit more pocket time.

Im gonna say the Al Mar SERE 2000, amazing knife that rarely gets talked about.

I agree. Until I bought the Gayle Bradley, I considered the SERE 2000 my finest knife. It's still in the top five of my all-time favorite knives.

Fox Gunhammer. Also produced for Wilson Combat under the name Extreme Lite Carry (ELC)
The one in the middle is the Wilson branded Gunhammer.

While I own and carry a wide array of better name American folders I gotta say my SanRenMu 710 is a very pleasant surprise. The 8cr steel has held up well for me for what I ask it to do and the fit and finish are as good if not better than many other blades I own.

Another blade that I'm very fond of is the CRKT Ken Onion Ripple 2. It's just a classy gentlemen's knife and I often carry it when I'm in formal situations. The machining is outstanding and it's just a beautiful design. And nobody blinks an eye when I whip it out to use on a steak.

I believe the Ontario Utilitac II is the most Underated knife I ever used. Smooth as butter to open. Came shaving sharp. A couple minutes on the sharp maker and back to its crazy sharpness.

You just gave me a great idea.

I always had a 'hard' time coming up with PW's. Im seriously gonna try this out lol. 8cr13mov, 14c28n, cts204p...

I guess I just gave away my secret.....

Actually they make the best passwords ever.

Wish that SERE was just thiiiiiisss much longer. Great knife though.

Hands down it's the Kershaw OD-2. $15 of 8cr13mov awesomeness. Sounds like sarcasm, I know, but I adore this little knife. Non-threatening, basically an auto overdrive flipper mech, good pocket clip, and given the diminutive size the Chinese steel actually performs quite well. Sharpens back up in an instant too.

Another vote for the SERE 2000.

Another epic tacticool folder that rarely gets the credit it deserves is the Emerson CQC-8. It feels very similar to the long discontinued Benchmade AFCK, but is still available.

Runner up: Kershaw thermite,

I too would have to say the gayle bradley, I dont know why I ever got rid of mine, Im gonna have to trying to pick up another one! Im not so sure about the sebenza part though ;)

Lionsteel Opera and Big Opera would be on my list. Both are very functional, well made knives with good materials and are really quite affordable, but no one seems to bring them up.

i'll go with the obvious...the Rat I & II, the ESEE Zancudo and the Avispa. great knives at a better price, you just have to choose what lock and blade length you prefer. another knife I love but doesn't get mentioned often is the Fallkniven PXL...I have one in micarta as well as the workhorse model and they are fantastic knives. probably the stoutest liner locks ive ever seen.

Another vote for the Al Mar Sere. Truly a great knife. I also like the Spyderco Double Bevel. Opens easier and faster than most flippers, and is a great cutter.

I agree with the sere and the cqc8. Neither get the props they should. To that I'll add spyderco vallotin sub hilt. Awesome knife. Great in the hand. Just feels good.
The BUCK110 is probably #1 in my mind though. I grew up with one on my belt and it definitely was the gold standard back then for all hunters. Everyone either had one or was getting one. Just feels good in the hand, the heft, the looks, all make it one of the best knives ever.
