This is orginal Mountain Man sheath design. I added my drop point hunter/skinner knife. The knife is not as rough as the Mountain Man set I just sold but is a great camping knife for someone who wants a good knive and doesnt want the maintenance of 1095. Its 440c flat ground from 5/32" stock, hardend to about 58-59. The blade measures 4 1/2" the knife is 8 1/2" overall. Hand sanded to about 1500 grit and polished. Razor sharp (not yet but I will sharpen). The handle is African Bubinga, very tough and dense wood that retains a beautiful red color to contrast the brass pins.

The shape of the knife evolved while doing cutting tests. I found this shape gives little wrist flex when cutting at around belt level and is more comfortable.

I carried the knife today and it fits low on the beltline and walks well. I set the knife low in the sheath so you do not have to worry about losing it but will slip out of the formed sheath easy will a tug on the lanard.

Thanks, it has take a while to develop this style. My friends used and looked at previous knives and went Ho Hum, but everyone want one of these. One friend was a really did not like my knives and bought a black micarta handle one at first sight.

Thanks

Looks like another good knife maker has appear on BF :) Great addition with your own style, welcome

Great work! I really like the rustic almost trade knife feel to your designs. It should make a nice working blade,

The key to the sheath is the forming and finishing of the leather. I can make the sheath in about a hour but the forming and finishing take another day (Mostly waiting for it to dry enough to set out of the form). It doesnt show in the picture but the blade is finished to 1500 grit and polished, not a mirror finish (shows some distortion) but a very fine finish.
