Not Jaws or the Old man and the Sea, but Meako you are close as the last hint was talking about that very story!

First quote was talking about a sandwich that a guy was eating, suppose to have been a healthy sandwich as he is trying to lose weight to get a security job, but he had potato chips inside the sandwich and you could hear the crunching...;)

Second quote was a little further in the movie, talking to a girl as she asked about the book the main character was reading and he made that quote about the book.

Both hints are near the beginning of the movie :)
