maybe I got the exception to the rule here
I paid last week, it shipped Monday, and honestly for the
price of shipping which I did not complain about when she hit me for 20
bucks to ship ONE knife, I paid it, but here I am 5 days later and the tracking number
does not work, and the package is not here
So far I have been willing to just assume it missed a truck someplace
but honestly for the high price of shipping it should at least track to show where it is

will keep this "pending" for now, not claiming bad but certainly not raving about speed of service
or replies on email either

you gave me the incorrect tracking number in your email to me

It was exactly that way when I found it, this was why I needed to know when it was going to be here.
IF it had been stolen, you would be refunding my purchase price, and we both loose out.(you may want to start requiring signature for items over what amount you don't wish to refund)
I am an honest person, but if I was not I could claim I never got it, and well it would be my word against yours and visa would take my word.
Fortunately it didn't come to this, but to be completely honest I understand you have lots of fans here, and the blade is nice
you over charge for shipping and then what should have been a 3 day priority delivery takes a week from order to delivery which
yeah its not a long time in the big picture, and I am happy with the blade, its just the lack of service now that irritated me

I left this as I would update it as it finished,
well consider it updated

paid 20 bucks for shipping that was clearly posted on the box of 15 dollars(us mail priority box so it cost nothing so dont cry shipping materials it was wrapped in a old newspaper an loose in the box no padding its not fragile so no damage but still no cost in materials to add 5 bucks for)
OK you got me for an extra 5 bucks, it happens

as I stated above
maybe this was the one deal that got away and out of your control while you took care
of more important things

I'm not calling you bad or this a bad deal, but I am leaving my experience here as it is a valid
lesson for others when dealing with your company

please folks don't come in here blasting me for posting a valid experience
auntie may be the salt of the earth, and the nicest person I may ever meet
but this is how this happened from my point of view, its just that, and nothing more
so please understand that.

You've made several posts on this forum complaining about your email not getting responded to after sending them over the weekend.
Auntie and I are both only human, mistakes can happen. We do take some time away from the computer for family or other issues at times.

As for the shipping price?... it is clearly given to you at the time of purchase. If you do not agree with the shipping price, you are not obligated to purchase the product.

As for the shipping time?... this is beyond our control once the package is picked up by the carrier. Usually it takes 3-4 days coast to coast. Sometimes there may be delays due to unknown circumstance or the employees of your particular branch of the system. We are more than happy to assist provided that you treat us in an honest and polite manner.

I am sorry that you feel that you have had a poor experience, but your tone and demeanor speak volumes here.
 
Goofs happen pal. A little respect, actually a lot of respect is due Auntie. A bad thing happened to you, a goof was made, I feel your pain. I've always had wicked fast delivery. I've had your same experience in a lot of other things.
Take the bad with the good and move on.

I'm thankful we're on opposite corners of the continent, general disrespect for Auntie in any way generally makes me want to stomp somebody.

Consider the time packaging, plus she may not have the exact actual shipping cost and a few dollars extra don't hurt a thing considering the price of these quality blades, most of us send a little extra anyway to help Auntie and the kamis.
Shipping cost today are ridiculous anyhow for everybody.
 
Dave ... My only comment about this situation is that your "tone" is very negative and confrontational, irrespective of your intentions. Life is too short to sweat things like this. Communication error, shipping error, whatever, just enjoy your HI blade.
 
Just gotta remember you are dealing with a very small company as opposed to a large manufacturer or retailer. Please don't let your shipping experience affect enjoying your new khuk!

Talk to your local gooberment post office about leaving packages unattended at your mailbox, they are supposed to leave you a "pick-up" note.
 
Actually, if anyone want my opinion..... 5 dollars handling charge was pretty meager profit for the pleasure of dealing with this customer.
IMHO, Auntie deserves more for what she does and has to put up with from some individuals.
 
To me it seems like your the one flaming HI, and to post back not to flame you is ridiculous. -hit happens sometimes people make mistakes, so you got the wrong tracking number, it was a simple mistake, as you said before your emails seemed not to go through in the past, is that her fault too???? She is a one person show, sure Karda helps but he is not in Nevada! I remember when HI shipped the blade and did not charge shipping, but the rising cost of the product and the situation at the shops deemed it necessary. We all gladly bucked up and paid as this helped her and the shops out. To come here and publicly bash Auntie is BS. You should have called her, I'm sure she would answer!! Or emailed her but your emails don't seem to work sometimes, so you should have called her. Sometimes there are better ways to handle an issue but I can tell you to come here and post what you did, not a lot of folks here are going to feel for you. Enjoy your khuk, as you can feel good that you possibly provided the Kami and his family food and perhaps clothing.
 
Aww, this is the KLVUK that I acted as a go between because the emails were'nt getting through to auntie. Auntie wrote back that she didn't get the email but got it sorted out and was sending the same day. Even took the trouble to write me back and thank me for helping her and HI.

I guess it's true. No good deed goes unpunished.
 
Ive gone so far as contacting the post master general in Atlanta on this, I can't even get them to close the door on my mail box when its raining.

As I stated, I know she has fans here, and suspected that this may be the deal that got away from her, I've really tried to not be a prick, but hey
you folks sure like to call people out when you know half the facts.

as stated above another member had already gotten involved, and honestly I had already made other purchases(from AC) due to HI not replying to my email, but so as not to offend for the others that had gone out of their way I went ahead and paid figured hey, ok somebody tried I make the payment. All of this could have been avoided if the correct tracking had been given in the first place or the second time I told her it didnt work or the third time I asked her if the tracking could show from her end and got nothing but wait longer it will show up. I Can see the tack this is taking and figure it will come out bad for me at the end of this, so what ever.

I tried to NOT DO THIS in the "public", I deliberately buried it in the feedback section not on the page where she did her most stuff so it would not be a public beating of me or her. The thread was moved with out leaving a url to redirect me to here, and no email was given to me after I even contacted a mod and got no reply but yeah its sunday and there are people with a life I get it. So trash talk should be only during "business" hours, making a note here for it.
 
It was mostly the rising cost of shipping that prompted the change to H.I having to charge shipping.
It had gotten to the point that H.I could not longer just absorb it. It was either raise the price of product or charge for the shipping.
It was decided that we would just charge the shipping in addition. To some places it's a little less than $20, to others it's a couple dollars more than $20.

Don't think you get mine, but that's fine as well.
I had to cancel a trip out of town to be around to keep this from growing legs, again, not your issue.
However, it was a real concern I had addressed with "auntie" and needed valid tracking to have somebody around because of it.
In the future, I suppose I should just let it fly as it flies and then just file with visa to charge back and really be a jerk?
again yeah I get it, she is the saint who walks among us, I am dirt beneath her feet and should be shunned for attempting to
get what I paid for after I was more or less dropped into a spot that if I didnt buy it, at least one member was "put out" for making the go between

My suggestion is crack open a beer and go chop some stuff in the back yard with your new khuk. Everyone has an off day every once in a while. You came at a very busy time for H.I., between moving one of their shops (along with all of the kamis and their families) to a new town, a new shop manager, and one of the biggest Nepali holidays of the year going on as we speak. In the end you got your knife so get out there and enjoy it! I suspect you will enjoy it enough to forget about all this in a few days.

Your condescending remarks aren't getting you any traction either david.
Noone would have been "put out" by your not purchasing. It would have sold to another customer.
Perhaps your future purchases should be with amazon, the auction site or the like. We are not them.

I don't know what other forums you are on, but on this forum "trash talk" is rare and the people who engage in it usually hear from other forumites, as you have heard.

You are describing one bad shipping experience out of hundreds that Yangdu ships out singlehandedly. You're not dealing with amazon.com here. At least part of your negative experience involves some kind of problem with your own emails, which other forumites tried to help you with. Another part of your negative experience is because apparently you have rotten postal delivery service at your end. Moreover, it ended well, so part of your complaint is about hypotheticals that didn't actually happen.

It is hardly Yangdu's fault that your complaints to the "postmaster general in Atlanta" have not been heeded. The very fact that you escalated your grievance with the local postal delivery person to the postmaster general suggests that you lack a certain sense of proportion. What's your next step, to appeal to the President of the United States? I wouldn't be surprised if you have offended your letter carrier in the past and maybe that's why he/she just tosses packages on the ground, as you put it.

As for the slight discrepancy between the actual postage and the amount that Yangdu asks for, I've always just assumed that she rounds it off to the nearest five dollars, since every shipment will weigh in a little differently and she does many shipments. If you compare the quality and price of these knives, hand-made by highly skilled artisans, with the quality and price of other knives sold on bladeforums, you might think twice about complaining over a few dollars overage on shipping charges.

The tracking log posted by Yangdu above shows that the package was given to the Post Office in Reno on October 7th and delivered to your location in Florida the morning of October 12th. Shipped Monday, delivered Saturday. That's five days cross country, and you say "the blade is nice." If I were you, instead of posting a negative review I would have sent Yangdu a thank you note for putting up with your email problems and delivering a nice blade to you in a reasonable time.

Also, if I were you I would try being nice to the person who delivers your mail, or maybe get a bigger mailbox for packages, or whatever might be the problem. Also be nice to whoever manages your computer or email system and maybe you'll have fewer problems there too.
