Mr. Emerson, Please start making Emersons all framelocks

I just want a tough knife I can bash on and still stay tight. I used my horseman for some simple camp tasks like preparing kindling and stuff and I'm already noticing some play in the blade. I had to send my first horseman back because it had tons of lateral play. I guess the knife still functions and is safe with this kind of play, but its just driving around with a porsche that sputters and backfires. Because I paid the extra money over a spydie or kershaw, I want better lockup!

If I remember correctly, the framelocks EKI made were about double the price of the comparable liner locks.

Sometimes more than double, but those were Ti framelocks. No all steel ones were ever made. The member who started the thread mentions some knives from othe manufacturers that are steel framelocks.

OR perhaps Mr. Emerson can provide those who like framelocks some kinds of frame locks conversion. I think it's a pretty great idea. So, for those who want to keep theirs liner lock, feel free to keep them. And for those who want to convert their folders to FL, they can purchase the conversion set.

What do you guys think ?

the problem would be getting the framelock conversion to fit correctly. In my experience, every knife is different and if you make a conversion for all of them, chances are, some will fit too tight, some too loose. I guess you should be able to send your knives back for the conversion....

If I were to send a knife in for a framelock conversion, it would be to STR or Ferrrk. The framelock on my cqc12 feels flimsy compared to the one from Ferrrk.

I'm having trouble contacting this Ferrrk member. How do you get in touch with him? Also, do you know how long his backlog is?

He's on the usualsuspects.net forums in the Pimp my Knife section. I've contacted him by private messaging him there.

He converted my A100.

Man..that A100 looks sweet....but i'm sorry mongomondo...your camera blows! Let's see some high res pictures of that beauty!!

Bin---You need a FB!

FB = fixed blade?

Funny you should mention that. I asked Landi to make me a Mpx, which is like 12 inches long. He asked me what thickness A2 stock and i said 1/4 inch please! :cool: Sweet, it'll take 6-8 weeks tho.

Yeah I only have a web cam from my computer. It's really sweet framelock, and Ferrrk only took about 2 weeks.

yea...I honestly don't think it COSTS anymore to make a framelock...maybe Mr.Emerson just wants those with framelock emersons and custom emersons to feel special over us "ordinary" people hahaha. If you noticed, the lock liners on the custom Emersons are 0.1", which is almost twice as thick as on the production ones.

FWIW a lot of customs also have the thinner liners my custom '8 was an example.

Neither of my emerson's linerlocks have ever failed/disengaged. They feel as solid as my sebenza honestly. I've had some other knife company's liner locks disengage while using (hand pressure moving lock over to closed position), but not my Emersons. I actually like WELL done liner locks over framelocks.
