Multi-tools: Which one gets your vote?

My Craftsman Pro multi-tool with adjustable jaws goes to work with me everyday and is a good stand in for plumbing jobs. Although I currently carry the wave on my days off, I used to carry the cousin of the Craftsman Pro....The Schrade Tough Tool.

Started out with the Gerbers which I liked the way they open. THey were good to use while fishing. Didn't like the way it pinched the palm of my hand. Then went to the leatherman PST II which I liked. Got a Wave next and really like it if I wear a belt on my pants. But for overall ease and carry the LEatherman Sideclip is kicking. Sometimes I miss some of the items that the Wave has but the Sideclip is clipped to my pocket and not back in the dresser drawer.

For whatever it's worth I've owned almost all of the Leatherman
tools at one time or the other and a Swisstool which was so bad
I won't comment on it.

Of the Leatherman I rank them this way..........
#1 orignial Supetool is by far the best working tool.
#2 the 200 supertool . a good tool just not my thing.
#3Pulse. a very good got it all together light weight tool
#4 original PST. I don't know why but for all it's faults it's still
a very good friend to carry everyday.
#5 micra. a very nice pair of sicssors for those time you need them.
#6 the juice Kf4 pocket tool. nice when I can't carry the big guys.
# dead last on any list is the ..........Wave. To much engineering compromise
for me.
I've also owned a cuple of Gerbers and well......nah, not for me.

The one that ,for me, is the tops hands down is the SUPERTOOL!:D :D

Big Thumbs up for the SOG PAratool.
I've had mine for 5+ years and find it a useful, functional and helpful tool.

Fight the Good Fight !

I carry my Wave in my back pocket every day. I have the Sideclip too, but I like the Wave so much better. I have had the wave for probably 1 1/2 years now, and I wrecked the first one while trying to cut something really really hard with the wire cutters:( But LM replaced it for free! LeatherMan makes the best multi-tools in my opinion:)

Leatherman Wave, the only multitool i've ever needed.
I have but two things i'd like to see changed/options available.
1. I'd prefer blutnose pliers
and 2. I wish it had a ruler engraved on the frame (like most Gerbers and the Victorinox Swisstool)

Otherwise... perfect :)

I've been a Leatherman customer since 1990, and never had any problems with any of their products. I've had the original PST, Supertool, Micra, and Wave. The Wave just didn't work well for me, so I traded it off and went back to my old Supertool. Until recently.....:D

I decided to make a change and bought a SOG TiNi Powerlock. IMHO, I don't think that I will ever need to buy another multitool again. ;) This SOG is built like a tank and is a tool for those that need a SERIOUS workhorse at their side. I'm very happy with it, especially for these reasons;

1) I can take it apart for cleaning and maintenance,
2) interchange, or even replace, the tool blades, and
3) ALL the tool blades lock

I still think very highly of Leatherman products, but for me, the TiNi Powerlock is the perfect multitool EDC.

I own both the Leatherman Crunch and PST 2 models, and give them both two enthusiastic thumbs up! They've never let me down. :)

The only thing I changed was the holster for the PST 2. I'm sorry, but that leather one just had to go and so I picked up a replacement nylon holster for only $7.29 ~ Sweet! :D

I am one of the few who carries something other than a leatherman. I carry a swisstoolx

So far the only problem with it is the weight. I like the easy acess to tools.

I'm currently carrying a SOG PowerLock, and I will never look back.

Thanks to Ron@SOG for making me a convert! :)

I originally carried a LM, and went to a SOG Toolclip shortly after the LM, and I broke the jaws on both.

I switched to a Gerber, and carried one for 10 years. I like the Gerbers, but this SOG PowerLock is the heaviest tool I have had.

I tried the LM Wave for a couple months, but it just wasn't 'heavy' enough.

My PowerLock is now a year old, and has been heavily abused, but still performs like new.

When it's time for a new tool, it will be another PowerLock!:)

I have a wave and I like it but some of the tools like
the saw and file are hard to open.

Ron: here's your chance to make me a convert. Email me to calyth@shaw.ca and tell me what do you think it's the best off SOG's shelf and would at least match the Wave easily ;)
I might be in the market for one because my mom like my Leatherman Juice (She's a seamstress and will need to use the screwdrivers and pliers)

Well, when we are talking about a muti-tool, it is very likely that some delicate work is in question. In this case, I have to vote for a Victorinox.

I have a bunch of multitools. I like the Victorinox Swisstool for working around the house, but it's too heavy and bulky to carry around much. My favorites are all Leathermans: the Crunch and the Juice line (I have the XE6 <purple> and the C2 <red>).
