Multicolor homemade micarta

You might have dense spots, where the resin might not penetrate.

I haven't tried anything like that though.

Damn, and I'm still trying to get a decent slab... You guys are good.

Oh, after you're done working it, does it still smell? What kinds of things can you do to make it not smell?

Is that the famous Strider smell? Awesome job Ariel, you're a real inspiration. Thanks for sharing your techniques. That's a beautiful knife. Are those standard Loveless style screw/rivets holding on the handles?

John

It doesn't smell after I work with it... no smell at all :)

I don't really know what a "standard Loveless style screw/rivets" is (what are they?), those are riveted 1/4" 304 stainless steel pins. :)

Regards,

Ariel

It's a two part fastener that is maybe 1/4" on the ends but 3/16" in the middle so you can countersink it into th ehandle slabe for greater retention than a straight pin, then grind it to shape with th ehandle.

That's a Corby fastener (rivet), which really isn't a rivet, but a screw and closed end nut.
Loveless uses stainless 8-32? threaded rod into two internal thru-threaded spacers (usually brass), set into counterbored holes. This gives a bullseye look to the handle pins.
