As I had stated in another thread I have a Craftsman multitool I bought about 10 years ago. I'm considering upgrading. I know alot of folks like Leatherman and some folks like SOG. There are tons to chhose from. What do some of you folks like and why?

Victorinox and Leatherman are top notch companies. I really like my Leatherman Skeletool and love Victorinox Ralleys. Both are simple and effective. I also like the little Leatherman Micra.

I don't a swiss, but I do have a leatherman wave and supertool 200, and a gerber mini tool...the wave is my favorite, it fits in my hand great use it everyday.....

I carry a SOG Powerlock with me daily. Its a pretty good tool IMO. Does everything I need it to do. I've never had a swisstool so I can't comment on how they are. Leatherman seems to be good tools. Not a fan of the wave/surge. The handles just don't feel comfortable to me.

I have a Swisstool as well and love it. It had all the tools I want for the woods and some for around the house. The price was good and the quality is impressive. I've had it for a couple of years, have used it often both in and outside of the home and have been nothing but impressed.

Great piece of kit.

I own these and I'll give you my impression of the pluses and minuses of each:

SOG Powerlock - heavy duty pliers, little weak on the knife, accessing the knife is a cumbersome endeavour. Overall very sturdy but tools other than the pliers are a bit lacking in strength/quality

Leatherman (Wave & Charge) - great ergonomics for me. Easily accessible knife, saw, file, serrated knife from the outside. excellent pliers. a little smaller than the powerlock and thus it feels a little less powerful, but I think that's just due to the size.

Victorinox Spirit - probably my favourite, but big and heavy on the belt, moreso than the other two above. Great tools, pliers, knife. only drawback is size on the belt, but otherwise a really nice multitool.

If the knife is the primary tool you're looking for, I'd suggest the Leatherman, if the pliers are the primary tool you're looking for, I'd suggest the SOG, if you'd like a good balance of both (but not as good on each single tool) then the Vic.

Hope that helps, and remember the advice is worth what you paid for it.

:D

I carry a Leatherman Skeletool daily & love it. I carries easily, has a good assortment of tools on it. The biggest thing I like is the pocket clip it has, so nice for pocket carry.

I use a leatherman Fuse, not too small not too big, exactly the right size and weight, contains everything i REALLY need.

uuu I like this one. This is what I'm good at. Hell I'll even help you out compare prices if you want.
It would help if you told us how you plan to use it and what would you need on it. And if you're gonna carry it around all the time or how.

Now what guys before me said is true - Victorinox does beat them, and Leatherman is really top notch too. But it also comes down what you want.
Like if you need the pliers to be accessible then look into Gerber. If you need some stronger wire cutting or holding sth tight, SOG could have the advantage with the gears in the head.

I edc a LM wave ..the original Wave... but I also have the Victorinox Spirit as well...I like both & keep the Victorinox on my Junglas Backpack....

This is what I have minus the saw. For some reason when Bear did the for Craftsman the left the saw off. Instead of the saw it has a leather punch.

No one has asked yet...what do you use mainly?...the pliers, the drivers, the blades...

Each tool has it's own pros and cons.

DH1 I kinda did ask that.

and Going by what I saw on the pic you might check out the Leatherman Juice series

I have a Leatherman... as in "Leatherman Tool" - lasted me many years of active duty, many "hooah" schools, and overall several decades of use and sometime, abuse, with no problem whatsoever.

I had a Gerber multiplier and it kept pinching my hand when I used the pliers - I think I gave it away to a buddy. Too long ago to recall.
