Multitool suggestions?

Leatherman charge tti. It has an S30V blade for starters and the function of getting the tools out I like better than the sog. The size to capability is amazing, it is just right. My charge is my absolute favorite tool right behind my ESEE-6. Leatherman Is the ESEE knives of multi-tools.

The Victorinox line of multi-tools are the best made multi-tools in existence, in terms of quality of materials and craftsmanship.

That said, they have one downside to them, and that is none of the blades or tools can be accessed with one hand. You need two hands to get to any blade. If that isn't a problem, then Victorinox is the way to go. If that's an issue, then Leatherman is my second choice.

Unless you need it right now I'd say wait. ESEE has confirmed they're working on a multi-tool and if you can afford to hold off for a bit you might as well wait and see what they offer.

I didnt realize they where putting one out. I may have to wait. I'm in no super hurry.

I'd say give the supertool 3000. its big and hefty, has a good blade and a great pair or pliers. also if you dont like it you haven't pissed away too much money and can easily sell it.

I suggest you go with the SOG powerassist. I love the strong pliers, and the redesigned head is great. I use my multi everyday. The outside opening blade is a plus, and much better than on my older powerlock. Plus you can swap out the tools in the handle if you want.
It's the reverse for me...I just traded my SOG PowerAssist EOG for a (new-style) Leatherman Wave (with the bit kit & 2 sheaths). The SOG PowerAssist just doesn't have the tools I want, and if I want a power-assisted blade, I have my ZT 0301 that I EDC.

My vote is for a LM Wave. I have carried one for a long time, I currently EDC the New Wave while at work. This thing is a beast I have changed headlights in a gas station parking lot, used it as my fencing pliers, cut barbed wire, put in and taken out a lot of screws and sawed a lot of small trees down or into more usable pieces.

My only gripe with the Wave is that it doesn't have an Awl. I really like having an awl around to do things that I don't want to use my knife for. Oh and I hate the scissors on it, they are about useless IMO. Now if they would scratch the scissors and add an awl that would be my perfect multitool.

My first MT was the original Supertool which unfortunately was stolen when my car was broken into back in the 90s. It was tuff as nails. Since then I've got the Squirt P4 (which BTW I've used in conjuction with a Vic Midnite MiniChamp to assemble and disassemble a huge home office corner desk with no problems).
I also have the original Wave but was not so impressed with the play on the lockable blade, saw, file, etc. It also seemed to get rust spots very easy. That being said, I just picked up the new Wave at the local LeBaron outdoor store because they had Father's Day overstock of the Wave and Monarch 400 LED flashlight combo kit on sale for $64 or so. That was less than the price I paid for just the Original Wave years ago. The new Wave seems a lot better than my original copy. No blade play, all tools lock, it has the removable bit drivers, better grip when using the pliers, etc. For the price I couldn't pass it up.
I've never owned a Vic MT but have handled a few and I agree the fit and finish, robustness of the Vics seem to be a bit better than my original Wave. That being said, I still love my Leatherman tools!

EDIT: Oh, in reference to Wanderlust's post above, for the awl and scissors I also EDC the Vic Huntsman, one of my favorite Vics.

I EDC a Leatherman Charge at work, been using it everyday for the last 5 years and never had a problem with it.

My dad EDC's a Leatherman Wave that I bought for him in 1998, only thing it's ever needed was blade sharpening.

Leatherman, the original and still the best IMO.

I have had Gerber, Leather Man Crunch and now the SOG, I can open the SOG one handed and when your other hand is holding the work like a fish this is invaluable...
