This is from last season. This bear cub is the perfect companion for shroomin!!! I use a bark river sheath. Works perfect.
With all of the cold and snow, I'm betting this year will be one for the record books!
Do you have any shroom and INFI pics?

I used to have some great spots up in Harpers Frerry MD,VA,MD(yes they all touch there) but I'd gather some for me and a lot to sell to restaurants.

We still have about 14" of snow on the ground. Should melt in the next week or so, fingers crossed. Hopefully morels in 4 to 6 weeks.

Here are a couple of pics :D

Forager. Your third pic looks like a "false morel" very poisonous!
Good looking mess in the last one. Is that a Griswold?

Looks like a big yellow one to me, too uniform in shape to be false ones around me. I've found them that big and even a little larger. As long as it's hollow through the stipe it ain't false.

Back to the OP, we had over 80" of snow last year and the average temp for Dec, Jan, and Feb was around 7F, Feb alone coldest on record, 5.7F. Last year was also a bust for mushrooms. Still found plenty for me and a few friends, but nowhere near what I found the previous year.

Never mind, thought you guys were referring to the one forager's hand that looks like an ice cream cone.

The reddish one is a false morel.

I forage for Porcini ( or Boletus) mushrooms, puffballs and Chanterelles. My Italian grandmother taught me how to forage for mushrooms when I was a very young child. There is nothing on earth as delicious as a heaping plate of chopped porcini mushrooms fried in a cast iron pan with butter, garlic and Italian spices.

I've never seen Morels in the woods here. I'll have to start looking for them this spring.

Old pic., not infi but at least its a Busse and a bunch of cantarelles. In Scandinavia we have those in the autum before the frost sets inn.

Did a little preseason tree scouting today and found quite a few promising areas. Other than a couple of scarlet cups starting to pop up everything else seems a ways off.

I can't wait to get out and find some around here. Thanks for getting my mouth watering.

Great thread! I don't have any such photos to share but I really appreciate yours.

Nice to see you Forager! I had a feeling I'd see something from you when I saw the title to this thread :) I hope you (and that Public Defender!) are doing well bro

Not a mushroom, but here's a photo of one of my past pieces of INFI harvesting earth gifts:

Thanks! and looking forward to more INFI and mushroom photos :D
