So what would you have in a small collection of CRKs? Five or less. Is there a must have? A classic? UG? Annual? CGG? One piece? Inlay? Mostly users?

In no particular order:

Large Regular
Sebenza 21
Original Umnumzaan
Annual
Any CRK knife with Raindrop blade

Just random recommendations . ..get em all!

Hmmmm..... Tough question.

Large plain Regular
Small plain Regular
Original Zaan
Mnandi
Inyoni

Looks like the Inyoni bumped the Pacific and Inkosi out of my line-up....

I don't think there are any must haves, and different individuals are going to build their collections in totally different ways. Maybe a plain Jane -you fill in the blank(Regular, classic MM, 21, large or small).There are however a number of knives that can really juice up your collection- a nice UG, a stars & stripes Regular, Native American(in your dreams) Mammoth bark, and I could go on & on
Based on what I own:
Lg. Plain Jane(I own it in both Classic MM and 21)
Wood inlay(mine is a small Classic MM African Blackwood)
Small & Large Micarta inlay- the work horse(mine again are Classic MM)
LG Regular Stars & Stripes

The Classic MM's could easily be converted to 21's, and the Plain Jane to a Regular

I would make my 5 all larges,
I'd have one daily user, it would be one I'd probably keep for a long time. Either a plain 21 or a 25.
I'd have one inlay based on my budget. Some inlays can be costly.
I'd have one CCG, I'm partial to a patriotic CCG's
I'd have one regular, then again, it would be based on budget. Right now the regulars are in demand which drives prices up.
I'd have one Wilson Combat Sebenza.

Hmm... no particular order

Wilson Combat Umnumzaan.
KA Carbon fiber 25.
Small Micarta Insingo.
Large Micarta Insingo.
Inkosi.

Sounds pretty good. I'd trade out the inkosi for a large version.

Annual BG42

Insingo
Inlay 21/Classic
Mnandi
Regular

Large BG42 Regular
Large 21 Plain Jane
Micarta 25
Large Wood Inlay 21, an Annual is even better
Old Pivot Zaan

#6 :p A Damascus Mnandi for the rare times when I dress up

An EDC (Large 21 with Micarta)

For me, the must haves of my collection are:
Early one piece Dagger, made in South Africa, pre 1985, D2 steel;
Early one piece Aviator, made in South Africa, 1985, D2 steel;
Handmade Fixed knife;
Handmade Opinel folder;
Handmade H Sebenza;
Numbered decorated P Sebenza;
Gold coin Sebenza 2001 Chinese Panda;

Choosing 5 is fairly easy for me, as I currently only have two.
1) Large micarta insingo (started with a plain Jane insingo, then a large micarta - bought this, and sold both of those)
2) large 21, with snakewood inlays
3) WC Starbenza 25
4) Mnandi, with snakewood inlays (might end up with different inlays, as I haven't found one I like in snakewood since I set aside funds for it)
5) okay, I'll admit that I haven't thought this far ahead.
