This is my 1000thpost here on Blade Forums and to celebrate you fine folks not only putting upwith my ramblings but also welcoming and befriending me as well I thought Iwould do a GAW. I wanted to do somethingkind of special for the fine folks here on the porch so I decided to give a$100 store credit to KSF as the winners prize. When I contacted Derrick aboutthis he liked the idea so well he is contributing $50 so the prize you will winis a $150 store credit to Knives Ship Free. Thank you Derrick for all you do here for the members. You will need to have an account with KSF to collect yourprize if you win. They are free and require no credit info simply go to theirwebsite and create one. So if you don't have one I would encourage everybody toset one up it's fast and simple.

THE RULES

I want this to go toa regular contributor here on the porch or a Mod so you must have at least 100post here in the traditional forum prior to todays date (except the Mods} Youmust be t least 18 years old and you are responsible for your local knife laws.
This is open to allmembers (per the rules) here in the traditional forum and all the Modsregardless of what sub forum they are on. If you are outside the continental USand win we will work out the shipping.

To enter simply postI'm In and tell us what you like best about the porch.

I will select the winning entry number byrandom number generator and your post number will be your entry number. Thiswill run for 1 week from today at which time the winner will be selected andannounced.

I just wanted to say congrats on your 1000th post when I saw the title but just read the post. Very generous prize and GAW Randy. I need to get on one for myself since I think I'm past 1000 on the porch now too. I'm in~

I like it here because its a place where I can go and talk shop with people who share my passion for Knives.

Hey! I meet those requirements! Ergo, I am in.

Not going to pass up an offer like that. In fact I know just what traditional I would pick up if I won.

As to what I like most about the Porch, I like the community. I frankly don't really have that many knife needs or desires in general these days, but I love to think about, talk about, get and give knives... and of course I love chicken eyeing and coon fingering knives. The porch gives me a great place to do just that. The process of arguing, voting, and hoping, and waiting that goes into the forum knife is one of the true pleasures in my life these days. It gives me the knife hunt feeling, for a knife I feel a sentimental attachment to, without costing hundreds of dollars that I have to justify to my wife (she's very tolerant, but I try not to push it). I don't know of anywhere else on the internet that I can get that kind of experience and community.

I could go on about the generosity of the porch, your post is an example. The first time I posted asking for advice on a first traditional, Eyedog stepped up and gifted me a lovely knife that started me on the path of the traditional knife habit. The opportunity to support others like Big Biscuit recently are a great opportunity to feel good about the habit, interest, and community we make here. And it is just fun.

What I like most about the porch besides the wonderful hospitality, informative members, and "your more than welcome to sit down, grab a beverage, and join us" feel..... is the knives of course, haha. ;)

I just can't get enough of that classic quality that brought us where we are today as a community. :)

Nah, it's y'all, through and through.

The people, the knives, the knives and the people. Pocketable friendship, people going above and beyond to share their knowledge, their enthusiasm, their perspectives on their own cutlery, their patience and good humor, and-- the knives themselves.

As I've said before, of the generosity I've known and love to be a part of here:


Possessions cannot prevent sorrow, nor produce lasting joy in and of themselves.

But sometimes, the right thing(s) at the right time can point towards (and tether us to) a deeper holding beyond our own means and days, lifting our heads and strengthening our hearts, making us laugh (and maybe cry) and marvel at pocketable friendship made real once again.

At least, that's what I've come to know, often through the astounding generosity of others here. I don't even have to be the direct recipient; you all make me better.​

I'm in! I like the porch for welcoming newbs like me (I'm a fast learner though!). I don't know all of the brands and histories but I have learned a ton about what makes a good knife, blade steels etc. And generally just hanging with people that love what I do. Good luck everyone. :thumbup:

Congratulations on your 1000th post! I'm in for sure. What I like most about the porch is the sense of family that comes from everyone and the kind, loving nature of the fine folks here. Not too many people with these qualities in society anymore so this is a great place to be. Thank you all.
