My 1000th post winner announced SEE POST 93

I'm in.
Congrats on your 1,000th.
I keep coming to the porch because it's the best place to see anything traditional on the web.

Thanks to Derrick as well :)

I haven't got a lot of posts, but almost all of them are here on the porch, so I'd guess I probably qualify. I was led to BladeForums by a generalized interest in knives, and to Traditionals to bone up on Opinels, Moras and the like. Then I got caught up in Carl's magnum opus and realized those few slipjoints on my shelf were worthy of more consideration.

What really hooked me was learning that the big wooden folder I had bought in Amsterdam in 1970 actually had a name; before too long I had added a couple of Case sodbusters. Since then, I have been exploring other patterns, becoming a fan of Rough Riders in the process, and soaking up all I can of the incredible knowledge that is available here. I visit just about every day.

Randy, congratulations on 1000 (+) posts! Since I was old enough (maybe 8) I have carried a traditional knife, thus I was attracted here by a long time interest in pockeknives. The pictures posted here of classic pocketknives are great - they have inspired me to buy many a knife. I do read this site for the information, shared here by very knowledgeable and generous people (wonderful people) - overall this is just a great place! OH

A very generous way to celebrate your 1000 post !
I am a newbie on the porch and appreciate the shared knowledge about knives.
Thanks to KSF for joining you on your GAW.

Very nice Randy! I love the friendliness and camaraderie of the porch. Every one just gets a long here! There is no snobbery or judgement over what knife you have no matter if its one knife or 100 knives. Congratulations on 1000! and to many more posts! I am not in for the GAW but I do thank you and KSF for the generosity, I hope it goes to someone who needs it!

Congrats on the achievement, and thanks for being part of the community!

What I love about the porch is just that, it is "The Porch".

This is our own little community that knows what they love, and tries to help others out with any bit of information they have on a particular model, brand, blade shape usage, you name it.
The information and friendship contained here is usually shared freely and without hesitation. There are plenty of places in this world that could take a lesson from The Porch.

It's been great seeing you on the porch, you're a swell guy whose thoughts I value. I'm in, and would like to say my favorife part of the porch is the kindness, open heart nature, and generosity of everyone here. It's the main reason I got hooked on slipjoints.

Thanks for sticking around here and your generosity,
Connor

I'm in. Thanks. I just like knives and this is a happening place to see, read about, and learn about all things knife related. It's good to be among like minded folks.

Congrats, Randy, and thanks for the generous giveaway! I'm in!

I don't think I can say much about this place that hasn't already been said by everyone else. Great people here, some incredible knowledge shared on a daily basis, and the knives, of course! :D

Awesome giveaway! Thank you very much.

I would have to say the thing I like most (there are so many things) about the porch is the way no good deed goes unnoticed around here. We seem to have a ton of great Giveaways but even more "thank you threads" posted here.

Congrats r redden! Not an entry as i dont qualify due to post count, just wanted to say good stuff and thanks for all you do around here

I'm in.

It's hard to say what I like so much about this porch. Is it the generosity? The knowledge? The stories? The pictures of truly beautiful knives? I think it's some of all of that, but most of all I think it's about values and a sense of family. The people here are good people and show it daily from GAWS, sympathies and condolences, fund drives, to just patting each other on the back and imparting knowledge.

The porch has manners ... rarely seen on internet forums nowadays. Can't hurt if some of that rubs off on me.

Thanks for your generosity.

I'd like to be in. Thanks for the great giveaway. Fantastic idea on the KSF giftcard, and kudos to Derrick on the sponsorship!

The thing I like best about the porch is meeting other people that are into knives. I've had the honor of meeting three or four members in person, and it's always a thrill to encounter somebody that you can just jump into the conversation with. You get a feeling that you already know them to an extent, and you can skip the small talk and get to the good stuff (the knives). I know that when I go to knife shows this year I'll know at least a couple people because I met them here. It makes it infinitely more comfortable entering a scene that was so foreign to me just a short time ago.

Thanks again for your generosity.

Thanks for the give away. Congratulations on the milestone as well. I remember when I reached my 1000th post. I never really expected to get that far, but it happened pretty quickly. The main thing I like about the "porch" is the real feeling of family you get. These are people that relate to you on a personal level as well as kindred spirits in this hobby.

What do I like about the Porch?
Simply just the wonderful people are within it of who we get to read kind hearted stories, friendly and witty chatter, limitless knowledge on edged tools, gorgeous knives spread over generations and just an overall warm and welcoming place tucked into a cozy corner of the internet.

In in on this generous GAW please and thank you.

First, congratulations on the milestone, Randy! I'm surprised you aren't light years past 1000 posts, because I've seen more than a lion's share of great knife photos, interesting anecdotes, and useful information from you in my short time here.

Second, regulars like you are the primary reason I come to the porch. I think I started out like everybody, looking for bits and pieces of information and history about certain knives I had found or become interested in. After reading many of the threads here, however, I quickly came to realize that there is a unique camaraderie and atmosphere to this forum that doesn't exist anywhere else on BF or elsewhere. I have learned ridiculous amounts of history and esoterica through the esteemed regulars here who have a lifetime of experience with traditional cutlery and the companies which produced (and produce) it. It has turned a curiousity into a lifelong, rich, and share-worthy hobby for me and that, in my eyes, is invaluable. To date, I haven't even put in an offer for any knives on the exchange (though it won't be long, I fear), so to know that I have so much more to learn and appreciate on BF is very encouraging. But I'll always come back here because it just feels like where I belong. :)

Thanks for showing just how amazing and generous the members of the porch really are, Randy! Good luck to all!
