My 2nd Custom Shop 110 just arrived....

Is there any way to determine the year of a BG-42 cutom shoppe 110?

Here's the tang of mine....

No Bos logo and no year symbol tang stamp.

Thats the problem some of us have with customs. No identifying year marks. Some like it, some don't.

All I can say is that every aspect of it is absolutely identical to the one that I had made and arrived at my about two weeks ago.......maybe the pre-Idaho ones would show some difference in markings or shape?

Idunno. BG-42 has been used in the 110 for ..... how long? Your scales?

The pictures in the first post don't have the "Custom" logo or say "Designer's Choice," while other pictures do. What determines if your blade will have these markings? Any idea why no 154CM or S30V for the 110? Also, why do they offer the burl maple for the fixed blade custom knife but not the 110? Thanks in advance!

Really nice custom you got there! Love the nickel-silver bolsters and the walnut-scales on that thing are out of sight! Congrats!

I guess I've had the BG-42 one for less than a year.
And it has water-buffalo horn scales.

I suppose the year the blade was made determines if it has the "custom" and "designer's choice" markings.
To be totally honest, while I like the "custom" logo, I'm really not that fond of "designer's choice" on the blade....it sounds too much like a cheesy commercial slogan IMO.

Maybe Cabelas and the Bass ProShop have some kind of exclusive agreement with Buck?

Also, why do they offer the burl maple for the fixed blade custom knife but not the 110?
I have no idea.
Maybe Joe can answer than one?

Thanks Diamond Dog.

AC,

Great looking knife! :D The walnut on the one scale almost looks like burlwood.
She sure is a "looker".:cool::cool:

Either way you go here, you will soon be ordering the other... :D:D

So really makes no diff...... Except that the Buck custom shop doesn't do S30V, for now.
You are correct sir, i bought a regular 110 at walmart last night!
:D
The clerk let me paw all the 110's they had and i chose the one with the tightest lockup, absolutely ZERO play in any direction.
I could have saved 10-20$ dollars by going mail order but then i wouldn't have been able to hand pick one.
I only wish we had a real knife store here so i could always try before i buy.
:)

And now i'm certain i'll buy a custom 110 later on.
But the regular 112 finger groove model has also now piqued my interest.
:)

Not usually a wood fan on 110s, but this one is gorgeous. Of course I love your Buffalo one. I'd better since the only Buck I currently own and have had for about a year from the custom shop is exactly the same!

I personally think the custom shop is one of the best values in the knife world.

alan !!..great knife !!...Walnut is outstanding material !!...I am a collector here in New Zealand....I even got a Yellowhorse 110/112 combo recently and it is my favorite !!
