O.K. I finally got to swing my new AK a little more tonight. It feels awesome but it is very different than the swords I trained with for so many years so I am still trying to figure out where i best like to hold the handle.. And it is a heck of a lot better quality wise. But it's been a while and I'm rusty and I have had a whopping 2 hours sleep. Plus I had to film on my porch and was afraid I was going to hit objects to the side and my low patio roof. And it's dark so the quality is bad.

This is about a 1 min clip (2.69 mb) of me just doing some test swings/air chops and a few combos. I have no training in the Japanese arts of sword play. I am basically all FMA. So you will see FMA utilzation of a Japanese sword. Sorry for the lack of foot work, etc... but under the conditions... Plus I just wanted to swing it. I'll get more tech. later.

 
So far it feels best to grip the handle where my middle or ring finger covers the center tube fastener.

I'd love to try the Ruck.

Now I do not have to worry about blowing chunks of steel out of the blade or the blade comming out of the handle.

Dude, you need to move to Tucson. Between you and David Brown with your AKs (hell, I'll bring mine too!), the neighborhood would be crime-free in no time!

I think youd be happier with the AK, I have the Ruck but not the AK but I was swinging the Ruck around at some branches and I just missed them becuase the Ruck or I was just to short. Im not giving up my Ruck for anything but since your a bigger guy I think the larger AK is better for you.

Nice vid! I'd have ended up going over the top and chopping the porch up... ho hum... one day I'll be allowed to work with sheeple again..... :p

I'll be cutting stuff up very soon for sure. I just wanted to really test it out for feel to make sure it was a keeper before I start scuffing up the coating. ;)

As far as cutting things are there any suggestions? Especially emprovised ones. I only have a lemon tree, an apple tree, and my wife's roses. If I touch those I die. :) But I will rig something up.
