My Apologies

It's amazing how crazy you have to be to want to be a knife maker now a days.

If you don't respond immediately to an email the customer freaks out.
If you don't respond immediately to a phone call the customer freaks out.
If you don't respond immediately to a text the customer freaks out.
If you don't respond immediately to a facebook post the customer freaks out.
If you don't respond immediately to a tweet the customer freaks out!

Meanwhile you're supposed to be in the shop making the knife! :D

Andy,

You are a good, honest man. Fiddleback is a good, honest business. There is no need for you to apologize for the callowness of others who do not share the same level of professionalism and integrity. Make some more knives, brotha and ship some to Virginia!

Keep living the dream!

-Will

I think you should be giving business lessons rather than taking them.

The "issues" I've seen the FB crew handle on the forums has been done with class and concern for all parties involved.

Keep doing what you're doing

Hey Bro,

I don't think you should be apologizing for anything. You run your business the way you want to, you sell to who you want to. A lot of makers have a VIP list of clients that help them when they started out and they give them priority. Last I check, that was a good thing and this is America.

Do people get butthurt? hell yes, but just move on. I've missed out on really expensive knives that other "insider customers" got, it didn't offend me, it's a part of business. I'm not saying you have an insider group or not, it doesn't matter, it's your business.

I also have multiple degrees and a graduate degree (MBA), that still doesn't qualify me to tell you how to run your specific business. One of the first things you learn in business school is that businesses are unique and require in-depth knowledge to effectively run them. Having an advanced degree means you should know better than send unsolicited business advice, which by the way is not advisable for legal ramifications. You put yourself in a legal situation where you can be liable for giving bad advice. Having an advance degree also doesn't give you the right to be an opinionated ahole to everyone about their business.

Run what you want bro, keep posting sneak peeks, it's your advertising forum.

You have my support too! I know that I have been taken care of by you all. Keep on keeping on! I know you have a lot on your plate right now with the big move, the production line, concern for your employees and family. Just remember what's important, keep your chins up, and know that there are a lot of people behind you.

Whether or not you had to is irrelevant, you did what you felt was right. Andy, that's rather big of you to apologize. It takes a man to swallow his pride. We all can learn a thing or two from you. When a friend, fishing buddy or family member hands me back one of your knives ( after admiring, using it and usually complimenting it) it feels good to be able to say "The guy that makes these is a hell of a good man."

Keep playing from the heart brother.

Btw, thanks for the thicker handles!

Hey bro, it is a busy time for you. You are relocating to a new shop, you just launched your mid tech line, and at the same time you guys are constantly upping your game with new profiles and new handle configurations. Your apology is just one more in a long list of reasons I have supported Fiddleback Forge for the last seven years. You are a good man, and you are an honorable man. Anyone who has spent every day for weeks in this forum, should be well aware of what all is going on with Fiddleback Forge, and should have a little understanding.

You have always done a great job at taking care of all of us, never let anyone convince you otherwise.

Fiddleback Forge is one of the finest businesses I've ever come across. No apologies needed and keep on doing what you and your team do. Thank you!

I saw absolutely nothing wrong with your initial post Monday and I still don't. You are entitled to have frustrations and voice them just like anyone else and in this case more so since it it your company and your sub forum. I have nothing but respect for you, what you do and the manner in which you do it. And I respect you a little bit more now for offering up an apology no matter how unwarranted I feel it may be. In the end I support you and the wonderful team you have there.

Edited due to grammatical error.

Andy, I don't think you need to apologize for the thread you started on Monday. You didn't call anyone out, you were just telling it how it is.

Having dealt with your customer service in the past, I have to say you went well above and beyond the call of duty when it came to making sure I was happy, and for that I was/am very grateful.

You make beautiful tools that are made to work, and you stand behind behind them. Ever since I got really into knives about 4 or 5 years ago, I've been drooling over your work. Now that I'm in a position to own a knife or two of yours, and be able to hold onto them, you have a lifelong fan/customer out of me.

Andy, you are the man! You guys run a great business. I hope things simmer down soon, so you guys can focus on making those incredible knives that we love so much. I wish you and the crew the best and thank you for all you do.

I havent had the privilege of owning one of your knives yet ... but have been looking and watching and I know theres one in my near future. Ive heard nothing but good things about your products and people. So this post only reassures me that I need fiddle or two. Sounds like no need for an apology ... hope its taken care of and you can just go about sharing all the beautiful knives you put out.

I purchased a couple of your machetes when they first came out but unfortunately no knives yet. The machete purchase was flawless and I am sure that any knives purchased in the future will go the same way. I have read alot of your posts and followed Fiddleback Forge Knives on the forum since your inception and have always admired your sense of integrity to your customers. I cannot imagine that you would ever do anything to jeopardize your standing in the knife community or with your customer base. This thread just reinforces your standing as one of the "good guys".

You have much more patience for people than I would Andy. I think you do a FINE job of it actually. The connection you have to your customer base is strong.
Btw - I'm stoked to hear about the thicker handles!!!! Mabe I need a new sneaky Pete with some fatty scales!!

I've known ya from the begining Andy. Your one of the most honest sincere one's out there. Your doing great! Just a little bump.

I do admit that I am in desperate need of a weekend off. I've not had one since the production parts showed up and I'm getting thin. This weekend is free and clear to practice softball with Hannah!
