My Apology to Dan Koster

Many weeks ago I exploded at Dan Koster and basically threw the kitchen sink at him. That has bothered me much since. I violated one of my prime rules- to take it to the source, and to give the other guy a chance.

I misused the forum and myself, and I gave an unneccesary insult to Dan Koster. For Dan, I am sorry. You deserved better. Once being labled harshly, no one deserves being treated evily.

I want the forum to know that if Dan had responded, as would have been his right, any disciplinary action against him would have resulted in my quiting the forum in protest. Fortunately, I do not believe for a second Rusty would have done any such thing. !! On that, I am sure.

I have been sick of munk for some time. Too many altruistic and fine ideals have been attributed to him. The real munk makes mistakes, and pays his dues. This will not be the first or last time munk is a 'bad' guy, and won't until the Fat Lady sings.

Many of you have been angry with munk since this incident. Fine! Go for it! If self rightiousness looked bad on munk it can't possibly look any better on anyone else.

It is good to live in a land where munk is not universally respected. Thank goodness!
For my friends, for sticking to me, even when I'd behaved badly, you are the best. I'll never forget it. For Uncle Bill and Rusty, in giving me and all of us this home and sanctuary where we can progress a little more after each fall; Thank you and God Bless you.

I am going to divulge a confidence here, because it needs to be said. Dan once wrote to me upon being made moderator that he just, "wants everyone to be happy." I believed him then, told Uncle Bill the same, and am telling you now that despite my harsh words to him that is the Dan I address in this forum; the one who teaches, answers questions, is Mr Enthusiam, and wants, 'everybody to be happy."

But not fine spelling. Isn't it altruistic? ;)

Dan is one of the nicest people I have met! He drove all the way from MD to OH to teach us stuff and hang out with us when he had very little to gain himself other than communion with fellow knife nuts.

He also spearheaded this YCS thing and I have been wanting one of those for a LONG time.

Also when he was de-modified rather than stomp off pissed he hung right in being his same old good natured self. Can't say enough good about the guy.

I must have missed the incident and I'm glad I did. :D

Yes, that's 'altruistic'; ul inspires thoughts of another kind entirely.

Munk,

I missed it too.

After the Apostle Paul, I am the next in line for the title "chief of sinners".

Your honesty and transparency are rare and important qualities.

I'm glad you are free to be who you are.

If you didn't do it, someone else would have too! :D :p

I've had both Dan and munk on my list of good guys for quite some time. I don't see any need for revision.

Munk, You're still a Dandy ;)

I wasn't here for what was done but takes a real man to admit mistakes......also takes a real man to accept apologies.....and Dan seems to be a pretty good egg :)

I think both of you guys are pretty awesome. The cantina would not be same without either of you guys. I only hope to be able to contribute posts on the level of munk's social (sometimes biting, sometimes poetic) observations. Furthermore, if i ever gain one tenth of Dan's knowledge of blade design i'll be tickled pink. You guys along with a score of other fine men and women dwarf we mediocer members. i learn something new everyday here. What more can we truly ask for...besides the Swedish bikini ski team.

Jake

I am humbled by your apology, munk - and it is gratefully accepted.

The blame is not yours alone and I will take that part which is mine, in giving cause for bad feelings to arise. It's water under the bridge now.

...well now that you boyz have kissed and made up, bring on the Swedish Bikini Team

Water under the Bridge, Dan. But it is the last time, for awhile, I hope, where I take my virtue for granted. It must be periodically renewed. I am foolish enough to have believed my own press.

And self rightieousness just gets passed from hand to hand.

>>>>>>

Now, wasn't it the Swedish team that the two guys in Dumb and Dumber refused?
I don't know about you guys, but I really felt those two deserved a few days with the Team. Kinda like wanting Jerry Lewis to win at the end of his movies.

Nice one Munk, Cheers for your veiws the other day, funny realy. ;)
Good on you too Dan! :D

I vote that we put those girls on the front lines against the aliens with anything fully automatic with a nice kick, or a jackhammer....or a trampoline. <sigh> you guys see where i'm going with this. Pass the binoculars.

Lasciviousness in good taste is more than fine, it's welcomed around here. In moderation ( that means moderators get first dibs ) of course. :D :D :D

Good for you Munk! That takes a lot of strength to check yourself. I don't think anyone, including myself, has been angry at you since the incident. I said what I thought at the time, as I felt compelled to do, but had no intention of being angry or discriminating at anyone who had a different view. I would like to think anyone who did have a diffderent view would stick by you as a fellow forumite even if we thought you were wrong one time, as so many other times you have stuck up for others.

Everyone has there own history here, most going on far longer than I've been around, and I haven't run across anyone who is perfect yet! (Well, my mother thinks she is, but she's not a member!)

Glad you were able to come to an internal reconciliation, and that you let us know about it.

Regards,

Norm

I've noticed lots of apologies on the forum lately. I must be missing the good stuff. Never figured out why apologies were needed.
