Update.
The micarta handles I attempted was a fail, I tried to make it to thick, the mixture of epoxy and hardener was not correct so the center of the micarta was not hardened. I learned a lot and will attempt again in future when I have time. It is a great material to sand, much better then G10 in my experience. In future I want to try doing a mixture of micarta against the tang, thinnish so that I minimise the chances for mistakes with either a wood or leather contoured handle on the outside.
In the mean time I made a simple handle to tie me over for the time being.
