My bad experiences with a US Cavalry store

When I moved down to Georgia, I was disappointed at the lack of good cutlery stores in my area. The only place to get a quality knife was at the local shooting range, and 2 stores that served the Fort Benning, GA. One of them was a U.S. Cavalry store. In the beginning I was pleased with the selection as they often brought in stuff not normally found in their catalogue. As far as prices went, they were also reasonable. Shortly afterwards, I noticed that they were overpricing their knives sometimes well above the MSRP, for example: EDI Genesis 1, bead blast for $189.99, CRKT M16-13Z (ZYTEL) for $79.99, etc... When I asked why they priced them so high, the ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER told me that knives like the EDI were collector peices as EDI had gone out of business. I said that was ridiculous and asked to speak to their store manager and was told to come back the next day. When I did, I arrived with a copy of a magazine which displayed an ad from EDI for the knife with the MSRP. The manager told me that this was the way their buyer priced the knife. I politely said thank you and left the store. For a while I kept hearing complaints aboutm the same store from several soldiers at Fort Benning who were also knife enthusiasts and one of them even wrote a letter to U.S.Cav's HQ in Kentucky and never heard from them. Eventually, the store closed it's doors and is no longer operating in Georgia. I also wrote a letter to their HQ and never heard from them. This was about 2 months ago.

I truly doubt the sun will ever set on a day wherein there are no merchants trying to gouge US servicemen just outside the base gates.

Made me smile to hear they went belly up! Smiling makes my migraine much worse. It was worth it!

The US Cavalry store in Kileen Texas did the same kind of thing. The knives and swords they carried ranged from overpriced cheap knock offs to mid range name brands, all overpriced. They never really sold many knives from what I could tell. Everyone was mainly interested in the web gear, duty belts and boots, as well as the embroidery services they offered.
They never had staff working the knife counters, guess it wasnt much of a priority with them.
They too went out of business.
