My biggest complaint about Cold Steel...

No oofense meant, but what is it with all you guys? Do you have tender hands or something? I LOVE the aggressive G10, it is THE BEST handles by ANY company! You want the knife to grip you back, and not SLIP. Worn pants are a small price to pay, if you care about your clothes more than a good safe knife grip, I don't know. Makes me wonder if the knives are more fashion accessories to some than tools. Like I said, please don't think I am trying to be a b@$#@^&, I am just confused. Also, y'know I've heard so many rag on AUS-8, you want a steel that can be sharpened easily, don't you? Edge holding is NOT the end all be all. Also, the knives would be so outrageously expensive, I doubt it would make much difference, unless you use the knife a LOT. And then, most people who use a knife a lot, know how to sharpen it. You are paying a great price for what are possibly, for the money (maybe THE) the strongest production knives out there. It is a balance, for the strength and fit, and the low price, you must give up a TINY BIT of something else (or again, cost rises exponentially) and AUS-8 is less expensive than the "fad of the day" steel. Remember, it WAS THE top of the line steel for years. Al Mar used it, and NO ONE accused him of making low-quality or low-performance knives! Please, don't get me wrong, I am not trying to put you down, I love this site (haven't been on in a WHILE) and the people. Any comments are welcome, and if you disagree, hey, that's ok, variety is why the companies offer such a nice selection of steels!

OOC, do you have weak hands...from something like arthritis maybe? I dunno your situation, but I know I've never needed texturing anywhere NEAR that aggressive to have a knife that never SLIPS. I'm carrying a Kershaw with me as my EDC. My hands can be completely wet, and the knife still doesn't SLIP AT ALL when I'm holding it...yet it's FAR more comfortable in my hands and doesn't shred my pants either...I can say the same about dozens of other knives. So like I said, if you need that level of aggression to keep a knife in your hands, I have to question if you maybe have something that prevents you from gripping a knife properly.

In defense of those WITH arthritic/fibromyalgia conditions on this forum, when your arse is OTL, you really DON'T wanna "dismount/ deploy a CS in any negative manner, because youre probably SLOWER than the average Joe. Knives require practice and muscle memory just like any fine tool. This puts wear and tear on the joints, especially if your knuckles feel like they got DMT Black grade sharpeners in them! I have CP. Thats why I prefer FB models when possible.
I dont give a "flyin' fornication" who you are-- a guy whoopin' out a Gurka Khukuri w/ the "Undertaker stare" is gonna make you think twice, probably about your drawers :)! LOL!!

But I di-gress(sp?). I love the new handles on the Voyagers as well, now if we can get the same handle thickness on the TMs thats on the SRK...??...The shock involved in TM usage can be painful, and I'm 47!

While I love the new space age CPM steels idea, that stuff is ungodly expensive (right now). Aus-8 is just like almost any chunk o' metal...its all up to heat treatment and proper tempering. One of these days we'll hear about a bad run of a CPM variant,--- and the honeymoons over. The guys who produce all this stuff have *marketing dept.* staffers who gotta earn a living too. I love Vg1 and Aus8. I gotta feelin' they're here to stay for a bit, just like plain old HC 01, A2 etc.

We figured out how to arrange the molecular structure of a given steel in a specific arrangement by "powdering" the steel first, waving a magic wand, and "POOF"--here comes Super Steel, w/ a big "S" emblazened on its chest. "Whoopie freakin' do"!!--nothing--NOTHING is indestructible. The great Japanese swordsmiths figured the same stuff out thousands of yrs. ago--their process just takes alot more time and hard work!

How about a slightly longer wider clip. I think its the combination of short clip, aggressive texturing and alot of spring tension. if I cant clip the knife back in the pocket one handed its a huge hassle. I love CS knives I hate the clips.
