My book is being published!

Sometimes more. You get all the time you need to make your point in a novel. It's harder to be brief.

I've always found starting a book -- setting the table -- to be the hard part. After that, the rest flows, provided I set it up right.

At the early stages of putting mine together I stayed with a friend for a few days who has had 8 books published. He had the plan for his book pasted large on the wall like the story-board for a movie. Since then I've used the same technique and it worked well for me.

It is a big effort though; I thought it would take me 6 months or so and it took almost 4 years.

NEWS FLASH

I've signed with a publisher at last. After being wined and dined around Sydney by three different publishing houses and having the auction go up to a scary amount of money, the winner was finally Penguin.

Publication date is still some time off - perhaps 9 months.

A bit of pressure though - because if it doesn't sell well then I'll be forever known in publishing circles as the bloke who wrote that book that bombed. However with the amount the publisher has outlayed they'll certainly be pulling out all stops to make it a winner.

Congrats. man:thumbup: :D Not to many people know about the Karen situation. Was your man jailed for fighting in Burma?

No -he was charged under the foriegn recruitment and incursions act (which basically says you can't act as a mercenary in foreign lands) but never convicted - I guess his other crimes kinda faded that charge into the background.

Hopefully this book will bring a bit of attention to the Karen cause...

Be sure to post again when it finally becomes available. I'll request that the local libraries and bookstores order copies. It sounds good.
