The phone rang at 11:32. It was Canada Post at the door buzzer.
I was confused, as I had not ordered anything; I headed down anyway.
It was a box from KAI USA, courtesy of Thomas.
I went upstairs and opened it...my eyes got wide as I saw another box inside:
It was a ZT 0392PURBLKWC, factory custom knife!
I actually began making unintelligible sounds; my brain just went into a loop, and words did not work. I think it was something like "Merrrrb, mmmmph, eeeerrbbbmmmb." Something like that.
My wife can confirm that I then began to literally jump into the air, all around the apartment. I'm talking both feet off the ground, honest to goodness leaps of joy.
After I took a muscle relaxer to counteract the back spasms leaping around had induced, I took some pictures. Actually, the ones already posted were taken at this time; my brain was not capable of things like operating a camera in the beginning.
It was very cold outside, and raining all day long, but I had to go out and get outdoorsy pics of this awesome new knife.
So, I headed off, stopping only to grab coffee and a muffin...I see in the picture that there appears to have been a hair on the muffin, but I'm still so happy that I don't care that I probably ate it!
While waiting for the bus that would take me a bit past city limits, I took a few more pics:
When I got to the great outdoors, I found that the way I normally go was extremely muddy, and rather flooded, so I went the other way instead. Found a picturesque area for a couple of pics:
Since this a "no fire zone" and it was non-stop rain, I headed back home.
Once there, I took a couple of pics with other knives for scale:
This knife totally friggin rocks!
It flips WAY better than the Hinderer (no surprise there
), but also feels better in hand. I will likely modify the Hinderer flipper tab to be more like the 0392, because ZT got it right.
Time and use will tell for sure, but from first impressions, I would recommend the 0392 over the Hinderer XM-18 if someone were asking which one to get.
Best birthday present ever!!!
Thank you Thomas for the extreme generosity, and thank you Zero Tolerance for making knives that totally kick ass.
I'm so happy right now I could write a musical.
