Call me a party pooper, but I am fundamentally opposed to encouraging people to post for the sake of posting. This forum is good because of quality posts, not because of meaningless drivel. If you promise a prize to the 1000th poster, I promise to stay up all night stuffing the ballot box with banality you can scarcely begin to imagine. Some of it might be funny, but you don't want to bet on it.

Spark, maybe this is a stupid question but, why are we only counting posts in the General Forum?

Thank God someone else is thinking it too. When I first posted to this thread I presumed Spark meant for the entire forums. That's why I snipped about having posted 360 something so far (this is #383). But when I exited the General area I noticed it was close to 9k by itself and that the total of all the forums was far in excess of 9k.

I too think the far better boogies have to do with the entire site. Oh well

Bernie, because this forum is the stick where we are measured by. It contains the most information.

BTW, at the time of this posting, we've had 280 posts today in this forum alone. At this rate, we'll hit 9000 in a few hours, and should hit 10K by Wednesday or Thursday.

With the rest of the forums combined, we currently have 18393 posts total. Not bad for almost 4 months.

This is getting to be a full time job!
