My daughter stole my knife!

I ordered a Benchamade Ritter Griptillian, since it looks like they are being discontinued. I had it shipped to my daughters place in Oregon, she is studying at OSU (Go Beavs). There are a few compelling reason to ship there, instead of my home in CA. No sales tax being one. Anyways, I get a call from her ( another reason to ship stuff to her) and in the background I hear the distinctive sound of a knife being opened and closed. "Sounds sweet, doesn't it dad" and I realize she opened the package that was addressed to me! "My friends think its really cool" she says, now I am worried. I don't think I am getting that knife anytime soon and I am OK with that. There are worse things than your daughter loving a knife enough to "steal" it from you.

Anyone else have a loved one "steal" a knife???

My fiancee does it with some regularity. She carries my Skyline regularly and my Izula 2 can be found either around her neck or hanging from her rear-view mirror.

Hey Joe!!
Glad I'm not the only one brother!!!
I have 3 sons that claim they are just 'borrowing' a knife. Put borrowing in quotes because I'm pretty sure they were never taught the definition of the word!!!
I hear them telling others of their knife collections.......they haven't paid for one yet!!!! And I'm thrilled with it!!
Now order another one......and send it to me!!

My wife stole my Victorinox Electrician. I had left it in the kitchen for her to use because the awl was the perfect tool for something she needed to do. A few weeks later she mentioned something about "my pocket knife" and I asked her if she had bought a knife. She said, "No, this one" and pulled out the Vic.

Works out well enough - she gets more use out of it than I ever did and I get to sharpen it for her regularly.

My daughter who recently moved out has pilfered a couple of my knives. During her move I was helping and walked in and she was trimming a piece of wood from some Ikea furniture so it would snap together.

She looked up to and said "Dad thanks for not letting me be a girly girl "
Touched my heart

Man that sounds great, my wife and I have been married for almost two years, so we are thinking about kids now,I just hope he or she would love shooting, knives and all that stuff Im into, thats a pretty cool story

my daughter called dibs on my bk13 when she was 4. she's almost 6 now, and still refers to it as her knife.

My husband sometimes takes one of my knives to work with him when he can't find his in time to be out the door in the morning

Thank goodness I finally got into decent knives, lol he used to break my cheapies on a semi-regular basis!! But he loves his ZT0452 so I'm hoping my knives will be safe from now on. ;)

Daughters have a way of doing that to their dads. Its tough to keep them from being a girly girl (or worse) especially here in South OC

My daughter (LEO) carries a Spyderco Delica on duty.. She has been an avid knife collector for as long as I can remember.. I buy her a CASE p-nut every Christmas as she collects these.. She will get my stash whenever I go to the great beyond!!:D John

I bought a knife from a dealer some years ago and they threw in a CRKT G10 Drifter as a promotion. I showed it to my wife and it quickly became hers. She carried it for years and I bought her a few better ones along the way. Last year I showed her my AXIS mini Stryker which I was about to sell and she looked at me with those eyes and wouldn't hand it back. It's become her favorite EDC and now she has a full-size combo too for her "outside" knife.

My wife took possession of my Delica G10(sweet) and my Cold Steel Recon1 Lg tanto.

My 2.5 yr old loves looking at them. I try to keep her interested but respect them at the same time. Anything that can harm her I tell her hot, she saw me burn my hand one time so she understands hot=pain. Can't wait to get her a knife. She wants to cook with us all the time so it will probably be a chef knife. One time I was eating some spicy/hot food and she insisted she eat some. "No baby hot" after 5 times of repeating myself and her throwing a fit, she doesn't 2nd guess me when I tell her "no, it's hot."

My wife stole my swamp rat mini vex when it came in the mail got a text at work "thanks for the swamp rat" I was more than happy to have her take it though as I am always trying to get her to carry a knife. My kids get new knives every xmas and birthdays that way they have their own.

Great thread!
Nothing like sharing our hobbies with loved ones! Makes those hobbies much more fun!

My wife really liked my red Gerber LST. But, I wasn't quite ready to give it up. I found a red Buck 0425 at a gun show. She's had it in her purse for 20 years now.

I really like this thread. No good stories myself but reading others' stories put a smile on my face.

Dude, just love the fact that she likes an awesome knife! And...order another one real fast before they disappear. Better ship this one to your home since she likely has friends!

A good friend of mine just shipped his daughter off to OSU on an athletic scholarship (Go Beavs), although in my neck of the woods OSU aren't beavers, they're cowboys :).
