Well I have been wanting to post my set up for awhile now and since I'm on a roll with the pictures I figure I should keep it up. :D

I have put much time and thought in this kit and I think I have done pretty well.
The base pack is a older Camelbak Chaos, they still make this hydration system but it is in forest green and black now instead of coyote.
On the bottom of the pack you can see I have a poncho, on the side you can see my "survival knife" and psk, on the other side is the orange survival bandana which is usually inside the pack but is outside because of the recent hunting season, and on the left strap you can see a 1700lb carabiner.

Here is the contents of the front pocket, I keep these things in here because I use them alot.
Inside is a SOG powerlock, canteen cup and stove, filter tabs, and the IMPS-NET(http://www.brigadeqm.com/cgi-bin/tame.exe/store/level4c.tam?M5COPY.ctx=7824) that also contains 100yds of 550 cord.

Here is the contents of my knife kit, the pouch is a maxpedition cacoon, the sheath is a basic spec-ops molle, the strap is from a Gerber LMF2.
The knife is a Busse Comp Edge Hell Razor which I chose because it is really light, tough, chops, and cuts extremely well.
Contents are: firesteel with fatwood, hank of 110lb cord, medium stone, complete Doug Ritter kit, firestarter, Case hunter trapper orange g-10, 12 hour light stick, and a Surefire E2L.

This is what it looks like when you open up the main compartment of the pack.

Here are the contents of the pack laid out.
There are mechanix gloves, survival bandana, fire kit in tin, sas survival guide, extra bateries for the surefire, militec-1 oil, a 72 hour candle, wool socks, a heavly modified sawyer medkit (with extra E-badanges, sutures, moleskin, cream etc.), toilet paper, two minirolls of ductape, 2 500kcal energy bars, the rough and fine rod from a sharpmaker, 2 12 hour lightsticks, paracord, heatsheet, and a silva ranger compass.

Now packing it up.
I try to pack smart, with the most needed and used stuff at the top.
First I put in the candle, socks and 550 cord.

Next is the lightsticks, tape, energybars, heatsheet, sharpening rods, and medkit.

Lastly the bag with the book, bateries, oil, and firekit goes in, then the TP, gloves, bandanna, and the silva ranger sits on top and is dummy corded to a loop on my pack strap.

Here it is all zipped up and ready to go again.

Hope that gives you guys some ideas.

Thanks, its a work in progress.

I just weighed it, it weighs including the knife kit and a full bladder of water only 14.5lbs.

Here are some pics of it on me earlier, I am 6'1'' and 210lbs.

Thanks, thats a good idea.
I usually have some kind of hat on during hikes but if this is a grab and go thing(like a BOB) I should give it its own hat.
Throwing one in now.

BTW, the medkit which is a great base kit can be bought at wally world.
I have added alot to it, I will post some pictures of that tomorrow.

Alright, I'll stop posting now. :D

Very comprehensive kit! You've done better than me; every time I sit down to thin my kit out, I end up either keeping everything or adding to it! I guess I don't mind the extra weight though...I'm 6'1" @ 235lbs so a 20lb pack doesn't really hinder my movement or slow me down. Good looking kit though!

Thanks mate.
Yeah, I don't mind carrying 14.5lbs eather considering how much I can carry with me.
Doesn't hurt to be prepared. :D

Your welcome.
The camelbak hawg is a much bigger pack which is nice.
I would add a compact sleeping bag like my snugpak merlin 3 if I had the space and a basha tarp or waterproof, I think you should do the same with your hawg.

Man thats a great kit. Its got everything and doesnt take up much space. My hats off to ya man. Mine is a Large Alice bag and it started out small but now its fully loaded. I wish I can get it down to that size. I guess Im spoiled.........

Well I always tell it to people this way.
You can be the guy that packs a stove and a stool and huffs and puffs slowly up the hill or you could be the guy with a canteen cup that runs ahead and hops the hill with ease.
The guy that packed the canteen cup isn't going to look so hot when he is sitting in a pile of wet leaves and can't cook his food to save his life.

Nice set up, macgregor22. It's always nice to see what others are doing so I can steal ideas from them!

Looks like you pack a bit more than I take in my daypack, but bit less than I have in my BOB. One thing I don't see is food. Do you have any in there? I consider calorie-dense, ready-to-eat food almost as vital a component as water, especially in colder weather.

I will add my spare tarp to it, but I like to leave space for extra stuff like ammo and food depending on the situation. Also my med kit is at least twice the size of yours.

Is the 72 hour candle the thing in the green and white striped can? BTW-- what's the jacket you're wearing in the pics?
