Hi All,

Thought I'd share a recent experience that I had with JFoley4 (aka Jason Foley). I will try and be brief although I have a sinking feeling that I won't actually achieve that goal.

Please note that I can back all of the information below with emails / PP records / tracking #'s / etc.

* I bought a knife that he described as NIB for $215
* He shipped pretty quickly and the knife arrived three days later.
* Rather then shipping priority, he shipped with First Class Mail (uninsured) in a damn padded envelope. Keep in mind that this was a $200+ purchase.
* The knife arrived and had multiple issues (blade play, a VERY VERY weak detent, and the coating was rubbed off in multiple places.) I can provide pics and a youtube video if anyone is interested.
* I emailed him immediately and his response (which came a day later) was to send him pics and video of the flaws. Keep in mind that I've got over well over 100 feedback on the forums and I wanted this knife. Its not like I'd just randomly create problems out of the blue.
* After sending him pics I insisted on a refund and only a day later did he respond with something to effect of "well, I don't know how else to handle this".
* He insisted that I send the knife back first. Now again, keep in mind my feedback score here.
* Since this would disadvantage me with a paypal claim (they give their own shipping instructions) and given his refusal to even acknowledge a problem I refused and ask him to issue the refund. After all he screwed up not me. Also, I had little to no faith that he'd actually give me a refund in a timely basis.
* After a few days of back and forth I basically started a claim thru PP.
* As previously mentioned, PP had me send the knife back. It arrived to him on Wednesday (7/11).
* He didn't bother to notify PP of his receipt of the knife and I had to call them this afternoon (7/13) in order to get the claim processed. Notice, had I just sent him the knife back I would never have seen my money.

TL; DR JFoley4 send me a badly packaged and uninsured knife that arrived with signs of use / damage. When I confronted him he refused to acknowledge any issue. I was forced to file a PP claim which Jason again dropped the ball on (intentionally I have to assume) by not notifying them that he'd received his item.

Bottom line, stay away from this guy. He may not be an outright thief (at least not that I know of) but he is definitely more trouble then he's worth.

Just keep in mind that there is a difference between honest mistakes and repeated malicious behavior. Takening a person's honest mistake and converting it into a crusade to the end often leads to a damaged reputation for the head crusader. Take it for whatever it's worth.

And the above reads to you like a personal crusade?

Jfoley dropped the ball repeatedly. This sound like something I made up?

I in no way dropped the ball. This is a very one sided story. You are definitely on a personal crusade to get me. Bottom line is you were unhappy with the knife you purchased. I offered a refund upon return of the knife. You felt like that wasn't good enough and Filed a paypal claim. That is the only thing you can be upset about. (I don't see how you really can be upset I wouldn't refund the money first) Now you are trying to tarnish my name on this forum. You are mad about issues that I have no control over. Im sorry this happened. I in no way meant to do this. paypal sent me a email the day after I got the knife saying the item arrived and money was to be refunded. It would have been taken care of the day I got it back except I was out of town for business.

EDIT. I received funds for the knife saturday. It got mailed out saturday and You received it monday. There is nothing I did to make you think I wouldn't refund your money upon return of the knife. you felt like you would have been at a disadvantage if you sent the knife first. Well I felt like I would have been at a disadvantage if I would have refunded the money first. That is why paypal exists. I don't see why you are doing this for any reason other than to hurt my rep. I could have easily made a complaint thread against you but what good does it do? I got my knife, you got every dime you payed back. We used paypal and it worked exactly how it is meant to. Lets be men and drop this whole ordeal. You got what you wanted

That is total and utter BS. I will write a more nuanced response when I get home but it your responsibility to accurately describe the knife and you BADLY dropped the ball on that. It's also your responsibility to make sure the deal goes well. You dropped the ball here too.

Is that what I indicated with my post? No, not at all. Use your common sense will you? Don't assume, I stated my point very clearly. But then again, this is not my first rodeo.

That's how it read to me. sorry, didn't mean to sound like I was attacking you.

that is your opinion. obviously we don't see eye to eye on this. I bought a knife about a year ago. It has sat in my safe never carried, never cut, never sharpened. I listed it for sale. You said there was blade play. the only blade play I can get is if I really muscle the knife. You said the Detent is very weak. How is that my fault or yours. You said the blade is scuffed in multiple spots. I had no knowledge of this that is why I asked for a picture because I had no idea what you meant. Once you sent it I saw there was a small mark on the spine. For all I know it came from micro tech that way. The problems with the knife are not the issue here as you wanted a refund and got one. The issue for both me and you was the matter of sending the knife before money changed hands back to you. WE used paypal the way it was designed to be used. everything worked out. I don't want to go back and forth with you in this thread. our business is over. you got the money back and I got the knife.

Its not opinion. Its fact. You misrepresented the knife. There is significant side to side play. It damn near rattles when you shake it. Try selling that knife again as NIB and we'll see if the next guy agrees.

You said the Detent is very weak. How is that my fault or yours.

HAHAH. What a steaming pile of crap. Its YOUR responsibility to appropriately describe YOUR knife. Here's the vid that I made of how easy the blade comes out. Notice, I don't flick the blade in any way. I gently nudge it downward and the blade pops out. This is NOT normal.

What?!? Any idiot can plainly see the issue here. The coating was clearly rubbed off. Unless you're blind, its pretty obvious the coating wasn't the way its supposed to be. Need I post pics?

The issue is the problems with the knife. If there had been no problems then there'd be no issue. You misrepresented it pretty egregiously.

And no, we did not use PP the way its meant to be used. The claims process is the exception and NOT the rule. They have that for less then scrupulous sellers like yourself.

^^^^^^^The horse is dead...quit beating it already...if people haven't grasped your point by now...they aren't going to...let it go...^^^^^^^

You have made your point with your insults and name calling. I am surprised by your behavior towards this. I sold the knife as it came to me. If nothing else this has taught me I can't rely on the production company to be perfect. I still have to check for flaws on a knife that is Like new. you got everything you were after there was no need to drag me through the mud and make me out to be the bad guy. Stay classy

Oneshot said it. Stop beating this dead horse. I think we all understand the positions you've each taken. What more is to be gained by reiterating your opinion of how this was handled by the other party?

Seems to me that this post could have been avoided. Seller offered to accept the knife back for a refund and buyer wanted to do it another way - which I would not do either if I was the seller. Did seller make an error with condition? probably, does it seem to be malicious - no.

To both parties involved directly: Please make a reasonable effort to resolve the issues at hand in a courteous manner. Without insults, it's just not necessary and always counterproductive.

I'm going to side with Jfoley4 on this one. You were not satisfied with the knife. He offered to refund your money. I would have handled the return the same way - send the knife, then once I have it in hand, I will refund the money. Thumbs up to Jfoley4 for doing a good job of trying to get things worked out.
