I went with the 555-1, somewhat based off this poll. I knew it would be smaller the better with him, and the Mini Grip is a very robust knife for the size. I did have four other knives in my truck ready in case he had some comments I could address with a different knife.
Anyway, he loves it. I made sure it was as sharp as it could ever be, and he was blown away when he cut the plastic clam shell packing off his new game camera.
I had actually bought two 555-1 because the first one was off center and had a sticky axis lock. I was tempted to keep it and rit dye the handle black... but ending up sending it back as I already have two mini grips. Now I have a duplicate Sage I can't decide to sell or gift, and a small Sebenza that I will be keeping for my own greedy pockets
I still half think I should have given him a Chaparral (my most carried office knife), but I really wanted it to be an "everything" capable knife, and the thinness of the Chaparral (which is one of its strengths) made me pause. Maybe in the future he'll get another knife or two.
Thanks again for all the input!
