My favorite traditional fixed blade

Thanks for the link, Jack. I take it this is the original sheath? 5" blade? Really nice knife. I like it a lot!

Thanks TAH. Yes, it's the original sheath. It's been stored badly for an extended period in wet or damp conditions, but is still a good sheath IMO, has a plastic liner.

This puukko is my favorite fixed blade.

Very nice clean lines Christian

Thanks Jack. It's one of Pavel Luckowski's knives. :D

...his real talent was the knife. He carried a slim bladed knife in a sheath under his coat, as well as a stag handle pocket knife...

Nice job taking care of your buck, as I said before it looks great :)
My favourite fixed blade right now is my bark river little creek with ebony wood scales. So small it fits into my pocket. Sheath pictured is made by me (wasn't a fan of the stock sheath)

Hmm, tricky.

I'd say this one today...

Doesn't look like anything special but works beautifully:)

This old Buck has been with me since 1975. It just keeps going. :)

Love it! I just bought one... or maybe I bought the Woodsman instead and the Pathfinder is still on my shopping list.

Sheesh, I can't even keep track any more. :o

My son carries a Woodsman. He loves it. He always questions why I need that extra inch on the blade. :D

Can't go wrong with either.

My favorite factory fixed blade was USA Schrade 152OT Sharpfinger. I used it for many years until it was stolen from my garage about 12 years ago.

My current favorite is a custom David Farmer drop point in L6 steel and bamboo handles. Tough as nails. 9" OAL with 4.5" blade.

I picked up a few fixed blades over the last month including a Paaso puukko that is inbound from Finland. While I love all my Scandi knives (Helle, Mora, Brusletto) and Spyderco Puukko, so far this one is still my favorite, a BHK Nessmuk, it's great for camping:

This little misery whip by Alan Davis with gorgeous Stag---this one re-defines "SHARP" and super easy to carry.

This picture gives you the scope of it's diminutive size---but don't let that fool you;)

I don't know why you need the extra inch either!:D

Karen bought me this woodsman in 1999 to replace the one that I'd been using since 1969 that worn down to a sharp toothpick. It's my go to woods walking knife for whatever. I may as well clean the gunk and sap off the blade while I have it out. The handle may look funny because it was sanded lightly with 200 paper to rough up the polished micarta for better grip in cold/wet.

Carl.

Paul, I really like the look of that little guy. Do you carry it in your pocket or on the belt?

OK, OK You guys are going to make me drag mine out. First off its not a Buck, so get over it. Next, it's the only Ca...Ca...Case knife I own. It was pre-Buck nuts. 5FINN SSP . I am trying to remember, but will go with close guess of mid to late 70's, I know the four dots mean something...... Was all around game knife. A few deer, pile of birds, a couple of turkeys and was bought mainly for fish and quail. I am mainly a folder person on anything without hooves but pull it out once in a while to slit a trouts belly..... 300

Mark, Thank you. I'll switch off from neck carry with a para-cord lanyard to mostly back pocket carry in the stock sheath. Alan just makes a great knife period. The nice thing is it fills the hand nicely:thumbup:

My favorite is this ultralight from Ray Laconico, I use it regularly for backpacking

And for car camping, this Laconico Kephart fits the bill

I like those Laconicos John. Is it true that he has stopped making fixed blades to focus on folders?

Yes, he is working on folders for now. You would really have to twist his arm to get a fixed blade right now...good thing I have five.

Some time in the near future he is going to do a mid-tech run of bushcraft (flat grind) knives. I think the blades will be in the neighborhood of 4", and most likely in A2. I just visited him tonight, I see Ray regularly.
