My Fiddleback Challenge

Quick update...

Two things have come together this past week or so that have helped me break through a wall. 1. The birth of my son was my "stretch goal." Missing it strengthened my resolve, but it also reminded me that I'm really doing all of this for my family. 2. There has been a tremendous amount of encouragement from this forum through the theads but also behind the scenes in the realm of PMs and emails. Thanks to all of you, I am now within three pounds of my goal.

Now I just need to make sure my desire for this Fiddleback exceeds my desire to eat lots of the goodies all the little church ladies are dropping off.... I DO have a weakness for pie. And brownies. And.....

3 pounds and 33 days to my first Fiddleback

Tonight's a tough night. Been a hard day back at work, with too many meetings. I want to eat everything in sight, especially if it is ice cream or baked goods.

On a positive note, I'm down to TWO POUNDS to go. Inching near the finish line. Thanks for your support.

Hang in there man!

If it were me, I'd throw on a few extra layers and hit a nice 4-5 mile jog in the warm summer air. You could probably drop those two pounds in the next hour or so then hop on the flea market and have a field day! ;)

Ha! You're probably right that I could. And to be honest, I've wrestled with doing precisely that since I got done to the last 5. I know a MMA fighter who normally weighs around 215 but sometimes fights in the 175 bracket. There's a lot of water weight in the human body. I keep coming back to seeing that as cheating a bit though. The whole point has been more about changing behaviors to being MORE healthy, not simply losing weight. I'm headed there. I'll get there. I also do think you were probably joking, but I needed to talk myself out of it again. 😉

Thanks, man!

You are almost there! Hopefully this will be a lifestyle change for you! When we come home on furloughs we put on weight because we 'have' to eat everything we haven't had in years! Then we return to the field and lose it again! I hope to show more self-control the next time we return to the USA and just not put weight on. Come on! You and me . . . Let's show some self-control and keep the weight off! You are almost there, but let's keep it there and live a more healthy life!

It is easier here though, because they just don't have all the glorious junkfood options! Next time you're tempted, just come down here for a visit and you'll lose some weight!

Nice job getting to this point Michael. Hang in there and stay focused this week to cross the finish line. You can do it.

Best regards,

Phil

Don't have time to write what I want, but couldn't NOT post: victory is mine. As of this morning, 7:18 CST, I succeeded in losing all 20 pounds of my challenge. I'll write more later.

Congratulations man and may I say good timing its fiddleback Friday!!! good luck getting the one you want. on the flip side I don't know what your doing to lose weight but stronglifts is an easy program to stick to and only takes about 20-30 minutes three days a week. I have the reverse problem and needed to gain weight. I will say that I did gain weight at first (almost 20 pounds) then lost 5 and have since been noticing a big difference in daily activity and stress level.. food for thought
