My first and second attempt at a sharp object

Awesome shop. I'm trying to get my shop re-setup right now. It's been out of comission for the last 2 years while I was restoring a car. I'm getting my first metal working lathe and a mill soon , so need the space... But half my garage is occupied by the previouisly mentioned car, so it's tough !

I think those two knives are a fantastic example of how much of the roughness and 'shoddyness' in early knives can be skipped past by investing in good tools to begin with =)

Sure look one heck of a lot better than my first knives !

I think good tools do make a difference in the learning curve. I use jigs that I built and they really helped me. more power to the guys who hand grind, I don't have that skill down yet.
