My first Andre Thorburn

Just received my L36 and once you get used to the front flipper the blade just flies out!
And it's all technique, you use a different grip each to deploy with either your index finger or thumb.... i'm hooked!

Good to hear....but remember the saying... "pics or it did not happen" :D

Ok here goes, i guess it did happen after all!

Sorry for the crappy phone pics.

@ Big_E
The bolster work on that Thorburn excites me in very inappropriate ways. Please pixilate future pictures to avoid this embarrassing situation. ;)

I usually gravitate towards smaller knives (small Sebenza or Mnandi size), but wanted a tang flipper (my first) that actually worked the right way. Larger for me would be a Michael Raymond Estrella. I also wanted Micarta or G10, as I have neither in my collection. The smaller traditional tang flippers are hard to find, and the few that are around never seem to flip right. As I was watching the previously posted video, I noticed the 36 in a smaller package (first one on the second row). The search was on........and this Andre Thorburn covers all bases, it actually flips as the creator intended. It's the L36S (small) with green G10. Below are the dealer photo, and one camera shot of the file work on the back. I'll take a series of photos of this and the L6 front flipper on Monday.

Here's another bolster that may excite you.....in a manly knife world kinda way. Pay no attention to the tail of the knife, it was totally my fault, I'm sick over it. Hopefully Andre Thorburn can correct my wrong so I can breath again. The sound it made is not something anyone wants to hear. If an equally nice set of Amboyna burl scales aren't available, perhaps some presentation Ironwood, or African Blackwood would compliment those beautiful bolsters.

Sad day, but also an amazing bolster.

Ironwood would look fantastic on that knife.

Ouch, that sucks. I was strongly considering purchasing that knife and it dissapeared. Now I know where it went. No worries though, I now have this one inbound and I'm very excited about it.

Great score, i was checking that one out myself but i managed to get back on his books for another one!

Right? that's why i went ahead and placed my order for another.
And they're great to work with, I'm changing out the backspacer from stainless to CF to save some weight on this next one and also having them put on a 3D CF clip instead of the Ti one.
And some of the changes iv'e asked for have yet to be done on the model i'm ordering, yet he's still willing to do it, Kinda like the FFG he did on my last one.

That is such a fine knife. Congratulations once again!

Did you guys see this one from Arizona Customs? The L51, this is one I really like.

It is awesome to see the final product. In the video they where still WIP pieces that Andre was assembling when I was there.

Andre finished the red one while I was there, fresher from the maker I have never held before :) literally straight off his bench.
