My first Andre Thorburn

Andre doesn't do his own engraving. Julien Marchal does it(the true engraving). Andres wife does the stippling on the bolster which I'm sure they can meet almost any demand!
 
Here are photos of a gorgeous Andre Thorburn L51F with brown canvas Micarta and M390 blade. For size reference, I included photos of it next to the L36S flipper, and a small 21 Sebenza. This L51 is 4.7 ounces, which I believe is the exact weight of the large 21 Sebenza. Andre's tang flippers are the ONLY tang flippers I've handled that don't pinch my thumb when closing, or catch on my pocket during extraction. I can't say enough good things about how they flip...few can compare. Just couldn't pass on the brown canvas Micarta.....very rich looking.






 
Very nice Big_E. does the nice blue-ano liner show around the micarta cutouts on the front?

Andres L51 was in ... Damn, forgot... Tactical Knife? Blade? Either way, his wares are probably going to be harder to find! My dealer (EE) only had a handful of the smaller engraved pieces left. They've been flying out!

Here my L44 Large Flipper
 
Well, I just bought Rodent's L36, so that's quite exciting.

I still can't wait for my build from Andre, too bad he won't start till after Blade. I'm trying to decide to stick with the plain CF L51 or go with a more decorated L44. Decisions, Decisions.
 
Hey Hairlesstwinkie, Could you please tell me the major differences between the L51 and L44? I thought it was the size but Ive seen 3,5inch L51s and 3,8 inch L44. Thank you in advance.
I have a L50 with 3 1/4'' blade, words cannot describe my feelings for Mr. Thorburns work. If it is possible I think I am sexually attracted to it!!

I shiver when I think about the things I would have done for just ONE more of his folders... LOL!

But seriously, so many people dislike flipper tabs because they ruin the "flow" of the design. Well I LOVE Andres flipper tabs, I think if anything, they complement the knife even more! Just go have a look at those incredible flipper tabs he makes, especially the more straight ones. They are so damn sexy.. Does anyone agree or is the front flipper going to take over you think?:confused:

PS if this post infuriates you on the inside because I describe it like I am 12 year old s**tchild, I am sorry but there are people in my family i love less than my l50 now... jk :D

Also, if this is the wrong place to post I will delete just tell me!

Andre had a few proto's for sale which were snapped up almost immediately. Fortunately he also had the original proto, which was already sold, so he could show it around. It was an instant success.
I predict that this one will be very popular.

Yeah, that proto is sick !
Thinking about changing my order from a L50 to a A3.
I asked Maritjie if she could sign me up for another knife, so i could have both A3 and L50 lol !

My Andre Thorburn L51 is on its way to me in a few days, something about DHL couldnt ship Dangerous Packageg, so it was shipped last Wednesday, but since the problem appeared it takes two more weeks maybe to get it shipped.
