My first day smoke-free...

Good luck to you man! I also quit over 2 years ago and i haven't looked back. Hang tough bro.

Good luck  Glad I never started when kids in school pressured me too, my parents hate that they smoke, but they always talk about how hard it is to just quit. More power to you :)

Good luck brother!! A friend of mine at work quit almost a year ago, but when he got the urge, he'd drop and do 10, 15 or 20 push ups to take his mind off it. He said it helped... Stay strong:thumbup:

Of anybody I know who has quit smoking, the only 2 that have been 100% successful quit cold turkey. the ones who used the patch, or any other number of "interim" assistance, went back at some point.

Good for you and keep it up.

More money for knives. :D

Good luck and hang in there.

I don't know how someone can quit an addictive habit like that. I stopped drinking Pepsi on March 13th of this year and it is an almost daily battle not to drink one.

My Mother quit smoking after 60+ years only after she had a stroke that nearly killed her.

Keep with the support system.

Good luck man! It comes down to willpower and lots of unpeeled peanuts to keep your hands busy. I smoked 16 something years and stopped about two years ago. Keeping my hands busy with peanuts, for instance pistachios, helped a lot. Just don't eat kilos of them or you'll be crawling to the bathroom with shite leaking through your pants :-)

Best of luck and way to go. I did it 35 years ago. I had just got a new carton but i just left it lay in plain site and stopped cold turkey. I kept that carton laying there for several years so as not to panic. It worked, It is one decision that pays off every day that you are still alive and well. It only bothered me for about ten years:D. Hang in there you will thank yourself a lot later on.

Hang in there Lee. I quit nine years ago. I feel like if I can do it,anyone can! I had a pregnant lady at work that couldn't stand to be around me. The smell of cigarettes made her nauseated. That was what it finally took for me. Do yourself a favor and stay out of convenience stores. Eat sunflower seeds, cinnamon toothpicks, gum, or anything to "do" while you're driving or times you would normally smoke. It gets easier! Take it day by day and remind yourself of all the reasons to quit.

Congrats! I've had a number of vices over the years: knives, women, booze, knives... but the one I am really glad that I gave up was smoking. I felt so good about not smoking, I decided to keep the rest;)

That is hilarious! Thanks for the laugh. It is an excellent point though... more time/money/energy for a better vice.

That excuse will always be there! I promise. ;)

I chewed Cope for 17 years and have been off the stuff for close to 3. One thing that still helps me is to think of how hard it was to get as far as I've come, and if I give in just once it will have all been a waste and I'll need to start over. Just a little mind trick, but it works for me.

Smoke your way bro!

I'm kind of like Idaho Jarhead - I'm a smoker, but haven't had one since 1989 (after smoking for 32 years). This helps me, because it keeps me vigilant. I actually hate the smell of cigarettes now.

I did the same thing as Jim. I kept a pack on top of my van visor so if I really wanted one, they were there ("so as not to panic") - It also worked for me.

Good Luck bro, and I mean that wholeheartedly. If you start to weaken, pop back in for support.

Doc

positive vibes sent lee!!! ive quit myself...a few times...after the first week its gravy! keep up the good work!

Good for you:thumbup:

It's been 16 years now and it's one of the best things I've ever done for myself.
Had to stop drinking too, as that was my downfall on my first three attempts.
I don't miss either one - killed two birds with one stone.

Stay strong,you can do it!

Great decision.
Keep in mind that your friends and your family want you healthy and around for as long as possible.
Not to mention the fresher breath and whiter teeth:D:D:D
