I want to raise a glass and toast my dog COCO. She was put to sleep just an hour ago. She was my first dog. From my senior year of high school I have nothing but happy memories. 12 years or 84 dog years she lived a long joyful life.... Thank you girl for enlighten my life. I'll miss you!

That's the most important decision that a dog's companion ever has to make, knowing when it's the right time to take that final truck ride.

My sincere condolences,
-Bob

I had to do the same thing 4 years ago after our poodle got to be 16 and everything went wrong at once. My sympathy is with you. Those who haven't been in that position have no idea how really hard it is to do.
to COCO

It seemed like three weeks ago she was fine, started to act like she had flu, we had her tested for Crohns diease. Which she tested positive for. three weeks and she aged like crazy. Last few days she started to shut down, I did not want to put her down, but the pain in eyes and I knew. On a positive note, I was the last things she saw as she left this world, very peaceful.

Rough SD, it is always difficult to watch a companion leave.

A Tip O' the Jar to COCO and SD...

Corky the picture by my name is missing her friend. Here is Coco when she was a proud girl!

My condolences to you and Corky.

I know losing a pet is one of the hardest things one can go through, my young Golden Retriever had a close call over the weekend.

All dogs go to heaven!!!

superduty truck...I'm very sorry that you had to have your friend "put to rest". That's a hard thing to have to do. Over the years, I've held two of my cats in my arms as they "took the needle" that sent them on their trip to "the other side". I cried both times, as I was losing a close, very loved, and very loving family member...Eventho they were "just" cats.:(.

Sorry you lost your friend. Glad you had your friend 12 years.

My condolences as well.
Some neighbors gave me a puppy right after my little brother was killed when I was 8. He had to be put down the day I left for the Army when I was 19. He was licking my hand when he died. It's amazing how attached we become to our dogs, probably because we could never earn the amount of love they show us. That was 17+ years ago, and I got choked up just telling about it.

Losing a dog is rough . . . but at least you had 12 good years together, and she was in good health until just recently. I am sorry for your loss.

Sorry to here,
Not so long ago I had to put my first down. 14 years he taught me responsibility, trust, true love and how to be a man.

Just be happy you could put her out of her pain. My best friend would have had to endure endless "exploratory" surgery and most likely spent his last days in a hospital in pain.

He died in my arms much like the way I brought him home the first day.

It's been 4 years and I still miss him like it was yesterday. His two brothers who he raised miss him too. Every so often I see them smelling his old collar that hangs in my bedroom.

I too will raise a glass “forever our friends”

I stayed with our 14 year old dog as they put her down too.
Not to many people do this for their pets, Dog are so loyal, they are always there for you through Thick and Thin, the good and the bad.

My hats off to you.
You're a good man to be with her to the end.

Sorry to hear of your loss.

This is always a hard when you have to make the call when to put the animal down.

Take care of yourself.
