My First Knife

Johnnyknives, I called them and asked for that size, it was actually 1/8 x 2 x 36 but I cut it down to 12.... They were very accommodating and nice over the phone, I don't see that size option on their website.

Flesheater, You are already ahead of the curve. You took the time to hand sand the blade, (something that takes some time but is worth it in the long run), you designed a very nice usable blade. It seems from your description of your process that you used the information that is in great abundance here and really applied it. The knife looks great. Makes me sad though, it means that in a few months, you will stop buying our knives because yours will be just as good or better! :) The only suggestion I have for you other than to continue doing what you are doing, is to move your pins in a little more to the center. If they are too close to the edge of the wood, it makes it easier for the wood to split, this is especially true with ebony (which turns my hands black too). The liner will help keep this from happening a little, but just be aware of it.

Very nice I'm in the process of trying to get everything in line to make my first one too. I'd be happy if it turns out half as good as that

Cool. I usually hate liners but I think your use of white just makes it pop. The grip on that has some really nice flowing lines. Looks like you got the knack for this stuff.

Thanks for the Comments everyone... Matt I truly appreciate your input, and I will have 3 knives of yours by the end of the year (I am sure there will be more by the end of 2010). I will remember to keep the pins closer to center, I had a chipping incident with this knife.

I have a long way to go!

Beutiful work! Wish my first, or any of the first 100 looked that good! Love the overall shape and flow, not sure about the secondary step next to the handle, looks like it'd be a potential stress riser on one hand, on the other I can't help but look at it and think "cool".

Thats a bloody beutiful knife mate, I'd love to have it in my kitchen( as im the cook!). I bet it loves your hand. Your pic is going into my knife design archive for inpiration. thanks, and great work!!
