Thats cool. I'm not good at gay knife/cool knife conversion tables, but that sounds about right. Three gay Opinels to replace a BM 710. :D

A troll?

As Mister Wizard say's

"Drizzle, drazzle, drozzle, drone / Time for this one to come home"

They are cheap, But they look GAY? Maybe that is in the eye of the beholder. I have never seen a Gay knife.

Troll aside, I really like my Opinel. Didn't put the best patina on it, since I used Coke, and now it's got all these little circular patterns from the bubbles. Also waterproofed the handle with boiled linseed oil. Dirt cheap, customisable, gets sharp easily. Of course, I like other folders, but for it's price, nothing gets close to the Opinel.

Hey Stringer69, what about the pink Izula and the rainbow Leek, are they gay too

looking at his post history, he considers several things 'gay', such as the law, and also may be a racist to boot; wanting Daltons even more after hearing Robbie is a white supremacist, and also requesting suggestions for an SD knife because of increased 'monkey attacks'... in Florida. Or maybe he has a sense of humor that doesn't translate well to text.

Gentlemen, some people are more trouble when insulted than others. It seems everyone else here knows how to treat the inappropriate, vulgar, and misplaced trashing of a fine knife made by devoted and experienced cutlers.

Except, perhaps, me. I thank you all for your gentle mockery of a foolish remark. I will only say at this time, Stringer69, that you might like to learn the difference between the General Knife Discussion and Whine & Cheese.

Ignorant, stereotyped characterizations of other countries and cultures are not acceptable here. That's not a matter of opinion in a discussion forum. It's a potential violation of a serious rule, against bigotry.

Does using huge font make this true? I think not. I'm actually french, and cannot stand people from Chambéry. They're gay.

I do however, like how the opinel can be customized. Thats is a great feature. Are there any US manufacturers making relatively inexpensive knives that can be customized like this?

I use a large font when I am speaking formally as a moderator -- so you will pay attention, not toss off another smartguy remark.

So you're French. Born there, speak the language? You're new here, you don't know everything yet. We don't appreciate trolls, people who toss off unnecessary remarks to stir up dissension.

I don't care where you or your family are from. I will not tolerate anything that leads to bashing any nation or people.

**throws a few pieces of silver at your feet**

Glad we reached a resolution.

Someone please ban the Troll or do some corrective action.

This forum is a peaceful place to discuss knives not racism or sexual orientation. And by the way, you can't say a knife is gay. It is a tool made for use by either gender men or women.

Just to lighten things up I don't think they will replace my Sebenza but I really want to get a few Opinels. I love a carbon steel bladed knife and at their prices why not try a few? Are their locks sturdy enough to do some poking and prying?

I don't think prying is in order. The blades are real thin, and I've read that the lock rings can pop off with enough force.

i had an opinel a long time ago that i carried in my tackle box. i used it all the time but lost it somewhere. they are a decent knife and easy to sharpen. one of these days i'm going to get me another one.
