my first single action

That looks like a great time Cricket. Maybe I would do better at that than the mounted horseback shooting. If the ground throws me off i have bigger problems. Still is fun on a horse though, even if im not very good at it yet.

Ground shoots sure are more affordable, I quit mounted shooting just because it was costing over a 100 bucks in fuel to go. Then I broke my back and pelvis and that cut down on all shooting for a while. Hopefully this summer I will be back to going to shoots. I need to get back in practice.

Here is another short vid shooting smokeless this time.

Nice Beef!! You'll have a blast shooting it and its great for ammo conservation as it is impossible to dump a mag. ;)

I do have a bit of advice, though. Be careful when you are shooting a semi-auto DA gun along with your new revolver. I have a tendency to close off the slack in a DA trigger (in SA mode) as I raise my firearm to the target for the first shot. If that muscle memory is lingering when you switch to your cowboy action, you will shoot the ground 4 feet in front of you. I only had it happen once which was enough to scare the crap out of myself to never do it again.

I happened to pick up another cowboy action wheel gun on Friday from Texas Jacks in Fredricksburg. I am lucky enough to live 1.5 hours from the home of Cimarron (Texas Jacks is the retail store), who makes some of best cowboy actions available. This is from their Thunderer line, only this one came with a custom trigger job from the local Cimarron smith. I never knew they did that, but I was sold the minute I cycled the hammer and felt the insanely light trigger pull.

Here it is in a cell phone pick and the only two knives sitting close by. The red rims are snap caps, every person with a cowboy action wheel gun should have them. You will play with the gun in the mirror, you can't fight it!!

that looks great! i must have one!

Congrats BEEF, the first single action is pretty special!
I have a pile of them now but my first is a Ruger Single Six I bought new in 1979. I gave it to my oldest daughter when she received her Masters Degree a few years ago. We were just shooting it this weekend up at the homestead in Utah. It is still very accurate after all the use it had over the years, probably as accurate as ever! It has become a family heirloom.

Wish I lived that close to Texas Jacks. I would be there atleast once a week. I love Cimarron firearms.
